Merging esp.s

I've got a small question.

What program or tool should I use to get the best result when merging esp.s? I'm not that familiar with such things hehe. I'm currentely working on a TC for Morrowind, and this include work with several esp.s, just in case I'd make a fatal error. Most of these esp.s focus on landscaping. I've noticed some problems with "holes" (when you can see through to the water, only in-game though..) in the ground while using all of the esp.s during gameplay..help!

All you need to do is load both or all plugins you want to merge in the CS. Then click file >> "Merge Loaded Plugins" And it will save a copy of all the plugins as one new plugin.

There are other ways of doing it, this is just the simplest way i know.

EDIT: As for the holes in the ground. The best way i know to tackle this is to click "World >> World Testing >> Test all land" This will bring up a list of all the cells that have landscape seams. Then what i would do is just use the landscape editor and tick smooth. Then just click once on the affected areas to close the seams

Thanks, thought there were some issues when using the merge-option in the cs. We'll have to see if it works :)

Don't set any of your mods as active when you load them into the CS. The merged plugin should become active after the merge.

Does it actually cause problems? I've heard about it before, but ive never noticed it causing problems really.

Never had a good explanation as to why you shouldn't have one active

Merging is not a problem, though the program doesn't seem to recognize the the various changes I've made to landscape so a lot of things will be below ground. The seams are easy to fix when I've figured the out the rest.

My best guess is that the CS overwrites my changes when merging altered cells next to another. The landscape is like a mix of the various mods I've been working on.:shrug:

The active mod might overwrite the changes made by the other mods. Me, I like to be safe rather than sorry and not having one active isn't really an issue. I don't trust the CS to do a lot of things right and merging active plugins is one of them.

If I understand correctly, having one .esp active makes it the master that all others are merging into. If there is no active .esp, all are treated equally in the merging. TESPCD also has a merge function, but before you merge, you can load all of your plugins at once and actually see if you might have made changes to the same cell in more than one of them. This may be WAY too basic of a mistake to consider, but cells can be marked as changed in the CS even if you didn't actually make any changes. Can you see what I'm getting at? Maybe you only actually made the change to a particular cell in one .esp, but you clicked on it in the CS in another .esp and the CS recorded that cell as being changed. When it tries to merge the two .esps it overwrites the wrong one. Maybe it chooses by date, but I don't know.

That makes perfect sense! Wow, I've gotta try this. Thank you so much Elaura :D

EDIT: Well I got TESPCD up & running. Found most of the conflicts but one esp affecting Dren Plantation and it's surroundings will be put into the trashcan. It wasn't that good anayway :P
