Merging Weapon mods

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 11:41 pm

I would like to know if it's possible to merge weapon mods. I know it can be done for oblivion, but I have no idea on how to do it for morrowind. There's alot of great mods I'd like to use but don't have the slightest idea on what programs to use or how to do it with the cs. I'd like to do it so I can bypass the 255 limit. Maybe a tutorial on how to do it would be great and on a side note would TES4Gecko work on morrowind? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

It usually works if you load all the mods you want to merge in the CS, then go to File > Combine Loaded Plugins and save them to a new merged esp. Some mods might not work flawlessly after merging so make sure you keep the original files.

Merging weapon mods is something that can and probably should be done. Before starting check the readme.txt files to see if any of them use leveled lists. Using the construction set also check the details of each mod to see if they include an leveled lists (from file menu higlight the mode and click the details button and look for a leveled list item). If more than one of the mods uses a leveled list then use wyre mash to merge the leveled lists before you begin. To make this leveled list only select the mods you will be merging and rename the result to something new like "leveled weapons.esp" Once that's done load up the CS with the 3 masters and each of you weapon mods checked but do not select an active mod. From the file menu chose merge loaded plug-ins and name your new mod. Then include your new mod with your leveled weapons.esp and the rest of the mods you want to use and redo you mashed list file. Once you've build your mashed list file the leveled weapons.esp mod can be unchecked.

Yeah, I was almost with you until you said that line of MW-geekness.

I agree, a step-by-step, click-by-click tutorial on this that doesn't presume ANY prior knowledge of using Wrye Mash or the CS would be extremely useful. Can anyone link that?

I doubt it exists, since merging plug-ins in the CS is incredibly easy to do.
I think what Nicholiathan posted is perfect and easy to understand.
The Wrye Mash stuff can all be learned by reading the http://wryemusings.com/Wrye+Mash.html And since no one should use mods without Mash, you should be learning how to use it anyways.

"You need a nuclear power plant to power your electric kettle, so instead of showing you how to turn on the wall switch, here's the nuclear plant manual. Go figure it out."

The Wrye Mash documentation is very straightforward. If anyone were to give you instructions on using the program here, they'd only be paraphrasing it.

So I'd say it's more like:
"Here's a map of the room with the wall switch clearly marked. Go figure it out."

I'm working on a project called 'SmartMerger' (see my signature). It does merging on weapon mods, it will also merge changes/updates between them too. If you didn't want changes, --left_preference would likely be the best option with it.

Exactly.
There is no secret password to learning Wrye Mash... every one of us learned how to use it by simply reading the guide.
