Meridia is said to be entity associated with energy of living beings or life and is quite dedicated to destroying all undead that exsist upon Nirn.She uses Spprigans as her servants in Tamriel and Aurorans are her beings too which inhabit her realm Colored Rooms.She is enemy of Molag Bal and Ebonarm.
Why is she called Daedric Prince? She seems rather good if you ask me, not some ploting,morbid,killing god like the rest of Daedric panthenon.

She didn't participate in the creation of the world. That's it. Daedra and Aedra isn't about good and evil but about if the being is bound to Nirn (Aedra) or not (Daedra). Meridia isn't bound to Nirn, thus she is a Daedra.

Meridia is also a very wrathful prince.

So it seems to me that Betsheda was bored with her being deity of greed and went to deitiy of hate for undead.Shame, I would prefer her as greed patron.

She seems more of a vain, "http://gatherer.wizards.com/pages/card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=129808" diety, but still a Goddess of "Light". She's the mighty smiter of smiting. Do you feel smitten?

Her favored weapon is the Holy Hand Grenade.

Bethesda were bored about quite a few things they said before Redguard, but generally, they didn't say much in the first place. That's all you'll find about Meridia in Daggerfall. There was also a daedra prince for the other seven deadly sins, aside from sloth and envy, which you'll find in Asap's link, although some princes didn't change much, if at all. The statements "'Prince' is the prince of 'concept'," may not have been in the game, but the dialogue with the princes and their servants which sometimes implies the spheres was.

Maybe she is known as the daedric prince of greed in Daggerfall, as in Daggerfall they might believe someone who hates undead is sort of saying that Tamriel belongs only to the living, which, they believe, is greedy. I'm making this up, as I try to minimize the number of retcons in The Elder Scrolls.

It is probably a retcon, but the fact she is no longer the prince of greed fits in with the whole personality of Daedra, as they don't really have any materialism, only love for whatever personality sphere they fit in.

If she was the daedric prince of greed, shouldn't she be fostering greed rather than warning against it? Or has lore become backwards land today?

I dunno, I stopped following a lot of things when Monkey Truth talk became the hip new thing recently.

I'm just going to write it off as a retconn, as with a bunch of other things from Daggerfall.

The Daedric Princes are supposed to be the embodyment of human emotions extended to the extreme. In this sense they resemble the old Greek gods, in that they frequently display avarice, irateness and capriciousness. Elder Scrolls lore attributes this to the fact that Oblivion drew its creational material for Aetherius, which as a substance is highly unstable.

There's a reason that some Daedric Princes are considered less ''evil'' than others, since their individual spheres alternate from the ''traditional'' evil, like Mehrunes Dagon, to the more indefinable, such as Azura and Meridia. But their capriciousness still make them dangerous to those who inhabit the Mundus.

The daedric princes being like the Greek Gods is a good anology. Though with the Greek Gods, I felt they were more like 3 year olds with nukes and laser beams who were also sixual deviants and rapists. The princes are more like 8 year olds with nukes and laser beams, and not as much of being sixual deviants and rapists (save for one).

I think meridia would just as easily kill a friendly vampire like the Count of Skingrad as kill any other undead. So she hates ALL undead and while most are bad some are not. I wonder what she says if you are a Vampire....anyone done here quests as a Vampire? I doubt there is anything different given the lack of polish on the finer points of the game. I wonder why when you are a Khajiit you can freely enter cities with no contest but the other Khajiits are banned? Just an example of what I mean.
