Mermaids!

The closest thing TES has is the Moamer, but Skyrim is probably too cold for them, as they prefer the waters around summerset isles and the like...

Then, *gasp*, add something new to the series or its GROWING lore.

Oblivion had nymphs, so if Bethesda decided to put mermaids or sirens or a similar water mob into the game, it wouldn't be too out of place. However, I can't think of a reason why mermaids/sirens would live in Skyrim's cold waters and not in Cyrodiil's -- so I'd vote no.

The majority of the forum users are Morrowind fans, and the majority liked dragons being added (and I don't think they're by any means original.) Who told you that Morrowind fans only like original monsters?

It was a joke. I don't think they "only" like original monsters. It's not that simple. For example i actually prefer more traditional fantasy monsters but i wasn't too happy when i found out about the Dragons. Why? Because i thought it was clishé. So ofcause you can't stereotype people that way. But it is true that "some" Morrowind fans aren't big fans of more traditional medieval fantasy including traditional fantasy monsters. I have meet enough of them to know that.

But *gasp* Bethesda should add something more important instead. Water isnt that present in Skyrim. Land mobs should be added first. Sea mobs... Meh, add some, but don't over do it.

More important? More important from whose view? Underwater areas have historically been boring and unworthy of even being noticed in past Bethesda games. Objectively, nothing is an important issue, but I don't see how Bethesda can over-do... putting something, one thing, that actually may be of interest into a water-based environment. Unless you've played Skyrim, you can't really say water's not present. For all we know, Bethesda could make a bunch of interesting islands up along the north coast and allow us to go a bit out to sea to get to them. As far as what we've already been told goes, Skyrim's vampires rise out of frozen lakes to drag unsuspecting victims to their deaths, so I doubt water will be an alien sight in Skyrim, and again, it could use one or two interesting creatures (I'm thinking vampires and something else; I'm not especially attracted to the idea of mermaids, although it would be nice, but my point was simply to counter these pathetic attempts to contest their existence in Skyrim simply because they're something new; I mean, how much more illogical can a statement regarding a new game be?).

If Weresharks exist (as far as i know they aren't actually confirmed unlike the Werewolf, Wereboar, Werebear, Werecrocodile, Werelion and Werevulture) they could be anywhere in Tamriel. They aren't restricted to 2 or 3 provinces like most of the others.

Lmfao gotta love Charles Manson. I remember seeing that at school one time on my computer and laughing like an idiot in the middle of class. Good times.

Anyway, I'm sure a mermaid isn't the mythical creature Todd was hinting at. Like... 100% positive.

go a bit easier on the OP... mermaids..no matter how implausible it is because it is too cold.. is better than a were(insert sea creature)..i am tired of those and the water life in OB was so boring. It could be kind of cool for a demonic creature like a mermaid that isn't like the traditional kind of mermaids but like a deadra mermaid... however rediculous it is it is better than anything i have heard... if done right it could be awesome

Only if they made them interesting and dark, and not like something from a Disney movie.

Because it's a Disney movie but the mermaids are not akin to those in "The Little Mermaid".

Daggerfall bestiary....halfway down the monsters...lamia, not the same thing but close enough

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Bestiary

I'd be really surprised if they were in skyrim though, and the lore says they are vulnerable to cold anyway

To cruel, think about the nvde ladies who has to swim around in an arctic ocean.
However Daggerfall had mermaids and Shivering Isles should have them to as it would have lots of water with better temperature,
