MERP (MiddleEarth Roleplay Project) Thread XIX

Post » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:48 pm

Welcome

Welcome to Middle-earth Role Playing (MERP) There And Back Again, a Total Conversion for Oblivion Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's Literary works; The Lord of the Rings.

Announcement

I'm not going to add any more content to this thread, I'll leave that for others, as this is the end, I'm leaving, so... goodbye! Lol... only kidding, I'm not actually packing my bags and heading off to the undying lands quite yet, well at least as a Developer, but as most of you probably know by now, my role as Project Leader has passed on to Jnor. I wish him the best success in this endeavor and it would be nice if he's still overseeing this project when we have it up and running.

I've gone over it many times, so I'm going to be very brief. My reasons for resigning the leadership were personal and my own choice, I just felt it was time to pass the baton onto others at this specific stage in development, and the decision I made had no connection at all to team unity, that has always been, and always will be as strong as ever, as we're a really cool bunch of guys, you see. :P It's also nice to see some old familiar names making an appearance, and I hope they're set to make a more permanent return.

Anyway, I've got no idea at the moment who is going to run this thread from now on end, I think Jnor is tied to more pressing development matters, so I won't post any more information until that decision has been made.

Again, I want to take this opportunity to thank the Besthesda community for being such a patient and supportive group... farewell as leader. Namaarie

Wipes away tear, lol

Typical! My final thread and I get the bloody thread number wrong. HaHAHA! You couldn't make it up, lol? Thread XX would be a better number to finish on. Oh well... sighs, could always ask the mods...

I'm beginning work on outlining the main quest, first book, this week. I've been busy patching Viconia and Stoker and re-reading LotR.

I think NAU said he was going to maintain the thread. Once I get a bit more spare time I'll be happy to do it though (in about a fortnight).

He's not leaving, just stepping down as leader. He's still doing landscaping work.

Jnor is the new leader of the team :)

I'd be willing to run the future threads here on the gamesas forums if need be.

NAU it's not for me to say now, but you have my vote if you want to lead this thread.

Let the name of jack large be engraved in the stone tablets of BGSF; and let it be known that he's as large a man as one can ever be. Amen.

Jnor is the new leader, he is an inspiration, you'll see what I mean soon enough! Get ready to be amazed that's all I can say, you won't be disappointed, this guy should be a rocket scientist, MERP is in extremely good hands.

Thanks LJ :read:
I hope I'm not going to slow down the pace of our team. So far, it seems to flow as usual...

That said, I think I figured who will take care of the OF threads. You'll hear about that later. ;)

There's some good concept art for Lake Town, might be food for thought. Has anybody done anyting with Lake Town yet?

Oh, and some for Pelargir too! http://www.angrenost.cz/endor/obrazky/pelargir.jpg

Pelargir is a town/city in South Gondor. It's nestled where the Anduin meets the Sirith River.

Hey, Grey! I'm working on Lebennin at the moment and have found that concept art for Pelargir too - I think the Anvil meshes are fine for it, at least if I don't have others made specifically for Pelargir. There is another concept but I think the first one suits the city much better : http://wiki.lindefirion.net/ProjectPelargir

Concerning Laketown I think Middle Earths Bane wanted to work on it ... but I don't know if he already started as he has some other regions claimed too.

I really like the original ICE MERP layout. It would be cool to do the three triangle island setup. They weren't kidding when they said low poly though. I guess Pelargir could be a pretty big mod in itself!

I saw the "new" Middle Earth project thread, but I read that most of the work in MERP has all been done in under a year? You guys are nuts! How many active modders do you have?

Actually more like a little over a year :P

Let's just say I've seen A LOT of modders come and go on this team. What's really hard to find is a modder who stays with us for an extended period of time.

Yeah, trust me I know how it is. I've been working on the Mesogea project, and there is ones who drop in, say they're willing to help, then never return to the message board. *shrug*, it would be more helpful if they did send in something, but that's neither here nor there.

Anyways, you guys are doing great work, it seems like we're both working on about the same landmass... it really is gigantic.... Hope all of us can get something playable released one day.

When do you plan to meet up, I'd like to join the chat if possible? I plan on getting my own computer some time soon. :)

Off on topic:
I made a model of Cirith Ungol a while ago, but it was just the tower, I found this sculpture online though, looks like it could make a decent ref
