Mesh Improvement Project

Version: 1.3

http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/1610-mesh-improvement-project/

http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/44501/?

Description:

Oblivion has some really great fantasy designs for it's models and textures and is a beautiful world. The problem is while the artists have spent a lot of time creating the world and all the assets required to fill it, they've ran into problems getting it all done and have taken shortcuts. While this is expected with a game this large, it starts to become a problem when it's noticeable while playing.

This project is a large undertaking with the aim of (slowly) fixing or replacing broken/ugly meshes found throughout the game's world.

Will this include optimisation efforts for meshes with a high poly count which could be reduced without affecting their appearance, so to improve FPS? Such as with the ship meshes?

I'm wondering, what is the difference between vanilla meshes and your improved meshes? Visual-wise :)

Yes, I'll optimise meshes that need it.

Mostly just UV map textures, with the Anvil Docks the textures won't looked stretched any more, should be a nice improvement especially with higher resolution textures.

With the sleeping mats, there are UV fixes and also more polys in the model to improve the look. Which means less jagged edges for example.

First: Wooohooo! :ahhh: About time someone took this on.

Second: Will it be compatible with stuff like QTP? I know they'll mesh (no pun intended) up with the UOP...

Exciting! Alas, I can't log on to Alliance any more. (Not sure what's up with that.) Will this eventually make its way to Nexus?

It'll work with all texture packs and I'll check with UOP to make sure any meshes I edit here include fixes from it to make them compatible.

It's on nexus now.

You really should do before and after shots.

Still, very nice. Keep going.

Awesome. Weird as it sounds, Brumbek's SMIM is more or less my favourite mod for Skyrim, so it's great to have an equivalent for Oblivion :D It's amazing the difference that a few judicious tweaks and changes to some key meshes can make to the overall feel of a game, I guess because regardless of how aware you are as a player of the resources in question, you will end up looking at them pretty much all the time....

Thanks very much!

Definitely checking this out.

Although not exactly the same, it is reminiscent of Brumbek's SMIM for Skyrim, which is fantastic. And that aside; InsanitySorrow is known for doing good work.

Thanks IS for this. It has some conflicts with UOP - should this overwrite the UOP, or vice versa?

Oh my gosh. You are my new modding hero (again!)

I have been wanting such a mod since... well, since I first became aware that mods existed. In my opinion, it is one of the most needed mods (beyond, of course, bug-fixing/stability mods, modding tools and the like.)

I've added Before/After images on TESNexus for most of the changes thus far, if anyone wants to compare before 'buying'

Anyway, nice job :)
