Mesogea

Post » Fri Dec 25, 2009 8:09 pm

Hello

I was working on this mod ages ago and after a HD crash ruined the entire thing I gave up on it. Lots of work lost and cancelled my accounts everywhere. However now I am back up and running I would like to start up again, albeit from some way back from where I left it. Does anyone have the Mesogea files on their computer?

I have several files in a Mesogea folder but they're probably pretty old. I guess that's better than nothing though, right?

I have files too.

Unfortunately I'm running out the door with a date, so can't address it now.

Later I can put it on my 4shared account and send you the link. Let me know if that works for you.

Welcome back karith

See if you can reach Citizen86. He had an interest in working on the project in the end and I think he downloaded the files back in December right before the project folded, he may have them still. Wish you luck getting things started back up. :goodjob:

4Shared isn't going to work for these. Some of the files are too large for the 200MB file size limit. Especially the ESM which even when 7zip'd at Ultra level is still 900+MB. But I'm sure ways can be found to get that to you.

Ive searched around but got very little. What a mess up I made there. I pulled all of the old files so that I could upload the new ones. Then like a twit I didnt upload them for a day or so and in the meantime the HD just took a nose dive, everything went corrupt and I had to get a new one. I sadly lost the lot.

If anyone can get the newest files to me somehow I would massively appreciate it. I'm also going to help out on the middle earth mod too.

Well I'm pretty sure I have all the files including the last esm

I don't have a readme though.

I compressed the esm alone with 7z at ultra and it came to almost a gig.
The data files are about 460 mb.
My 4shared account only allows 200 mb.

If you know of a way to upload them somewhere I'd gladly do it. I've never had a Nexus account or anything - I think to large for that too.

Not sure about email - but I'm willing to try it.
If you lived in southern CA I'd mail it to ya on DVD.

let me know if have any ideas.

One issue with it though - tes4edit choked on it when trying to load it, which means that any mod that has it as a master may not be able to be cleaned thoroughly. Come to think of it though ... not sure if I tested with the latest version.

As for news that you might be interested in since you've been gone. Onra has been working on and slowly releasing heightmaps (http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1073491&hl= and http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27235) for all of tamriel - that are playable in the same world space as cyrodiil. Two have been released Valenwood and Blackmarsh with Summerset Isle on the way. And Side777 is working on a http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1072969&hl= to compliment and make open the other provinces.

The general philosophy being - why wait for an entire province to be created before being able to go there: make the land ready for modding now. That way modders can have at and as long as the mods are dependent upon those heightmaps and don't conflict drastically all is good.

[edit] P.S. you have messaging turned off.

thekarithian,

Your PM box is blocked. I'm not about to post a public link from my server to something this big, so if you can PM me an email address or something then I can send you the link.

Consider using Megaupload for the filesharing - it allows up to 1Gb files for free, and it has a pretty good download speed.

hi.

I once looked into this mod, the version that I had was a HUGE esp or esm file, the only file that there was. tesedit could not load it, ran out of memory!

the 600+ meg "something" is still on fileplanet, even though the planet elder scrolls does not list it as a downlaod there anymore.

http://www.fileplanet.com/197623/190000/fileinfo/Elder-Scrolls-IV:-Oblivion---Mesogea-Mod-(Textures) 600+ meg.

http://www.fileplanet.com/197624/download/Elder-Scrolls-IV:-Oblivion---Mesogea-Mod-(Landmass) 975 meg.

in case the links do not work, just do a search for "Mesogea".

Actually those files, the 900MB one, look like the latest files, so they should be ok. I will take a look when I get home.

The full package I gave him the link for is 1.5GB. Megaupload won't take it. I could have uploaded all the pieces individually I guess, but then you're gambling with them serving those up reliably. Something they don't do so well.

Wow, I was not expecting to see this! Just a FYI I suppose, the files I had downloaded were the ones on Fileplanet, I believe they were the most recent ones.

I recently reinstalled Windows 7, and I didn't keep the files as it had been a couple months and I really doubted anything was ever to come of it again. I don't think I even saved the area I was working on. Luckily it was only a small island with one house on it.

We'll have to keep in touch thekarithian, I would love to see what happens with this mod. I might consider helping out again in the future, but right now I actually started working on a small indie game with a group of people using the UDK. I may be open to helping here or there though. Let me know.

Good to hear from you thekarithian.

If you somehow don't get the files from anyone, I've still got the meshes and textures, but not teh esm. I also have a plugin that has all my Doraeans. If you ever want to try to resurrect the Doraeans, I can try to send you the plugin with all my Doraeans on it.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to work on Mesogea personally. I have The Amusemant Park of Cyrodiil and Medieval London up and running, and won't be able to devote any time to such a big project.

Thanks,

Kroot

Well I sent him a PM with a link to the complete package I had, so he's likely got several ways to grab stuff by now.

thekarithian,

I've done some further thinking about Mesogea. Believe me when I say I really had to think about this one.

I realized that it was so hard for me to let go of my Doraeans, to abandon a people I had always wanted to make.

So, if you'll let me, I would like to keep my Doraeans and continue with the project. Like I said before, I can't do a whole lot at once, but I will put in some time and effort once a week or so.

Thanks

Kroot
