[RELz, WIPz] Mesogea Total Conversion- Thread V

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:55 am

Yep I guess we'll get to it.

I finished updating all the textures in the architecture/mesogea folder. I still see a few around that are more shiny than I would like, but I'm not sure where to find them. In any case, most of the textures now are not shiny like they were before, so it should look noticeably better. I'm uploading them to rapidshare right now so karithian can download them today or tomorrow and get the next release uploaded so we can all continue modding.

I'm looking forward to continuing work on Illusidum.

For all those registered at the Mesogea forums, I posted a link in the chat for the updated Textures with significantly reduced shine. I uploaded to Rapidshare though and I think you can only download the file 10 times. There are only a few registered users that still check that forum though ;)

looks amazing, original, and fun. I just have a couple questions:

is it compatible with OOO?
does it replace Tamriel, or add to it?
how many new armors/weapons can we expect to see?
any new types of weapons (like scimitars, etc.)?

Spartan, it is a whole new Worldspace, much larger than Oblivion. Because of that, OOO has no say in the lands of Mesogea ;)

The plan is for this to be a Total Conversion. So for an actual release, expect to see new loading screens, a new intro, and a new start with all new Character classes and races to choose from.

Mesogea isn't going to touch Tamriel, you are going to start in Mesogea and never leave Mesogea with this character. Basically when a working and playable version is released, you'll probably want to backup your original Oblivion game and install this so you have just stock Oblivion and this mod. After that you may choose to add mods you still want. That's what I did, and so far I've only installed Darn's UI.

As for weapons and armor, there is already quite a few brand new sets of Roman and Greek type armor that has been made for Mesogea and some that has been posted on TESNexus and other websites. There is going to be a lot of new items to use and explore.

thats a shame, now i probably wont use it.

i bet you'd get alot more people to DL it if you had it so that you started out in your place, then had some ship that goes from your place to Tamriel whenever you wanted it to. you'd have my download ;)

Not really how a "Total Conversion" works though. Sorry to say.

Well I think totally conversions are more for people who play Oblivion alot and are tired of the same old places and story and quests and what not. No matter how much you add onto Tamriel, it's still Tamriel. A total conversion is like an entirely new game done on the same game engine. It's good for those of us who are tired of the same ol worldspace. Oblivion has a lot of great mods but in the end no matter how much I add, it's always just gonna be Oblivion (sorry if I'm repeating myself I just wanna say what I'm thinking. I don't think before I type >_>).
Either way, if a beta or something of this gets released to the publc, I'll be one of the first ones to download it. Keep up the good work guys it's really getting interesting.

that may be true, but I am still working on several mods large questlines, so by the time I'm done, it'll already be the 5th one i think.

Oblivion 5.

That's ok, Spartan. Come back to us when you're done those. By then we might have something really interesting up and running. You'll need something to do while you wait for those big quest mods to get made for TESV, anyways. ;)

Thanks for the interest and the feedback.

Apparently there is no big plans for TESV going on right now anyways. Kind of sad, but at least we have such an active community constantly making adds for Oblivion, and even Morrowind.

Oblivion 5? You mean Elder Scrolls V (5). Oblivion is the sub title.

Anyway, there was speculation that there was a possible new Elder Scrolls title in 2010. Probably would not happen until mid 2011, or even 2012, though. But the speculation is still there, confirmed by a Beth employee in an interview way back that I am sure you have all seen.

I remember reading recently that they have plans for it, but they're not working on it right now. So seems like it at the VERY least a year away, probably 2 or more. That's alright though, by that time we should have a good portion of this mod finished and playable.

its too bad they are working on some other less-than-impressive games that will make it take longer for TES V. I wonder where it will be set? It'd be cool to see it in Skyrim, though admittedly it means no real water places, and a much smaller map.

I'm sure it'll be Hammerfell.

By the time OBV comes out you guys will have a continent to play in and a rapidly evolving Mesogea universe to get involved in. The idea with mesogea was to provide something so enormous that people could, rather than trying to make additions to Tamriel that endlessly overlap each other and take the same plots of land, stake a claim as large as they can handle and work alone or with a team to make it their own, woven into the main plot.

There is quite simply, one huge expanse of real estate.

I definitely like the idea, personally, haha.

Work on the Villa is coming along. I'm trying to make the inside area a lush garden since there is water in the middle. Hopefully when I have it close to something I like, I will post screenshots of it.

Its the villa with the Impluvium in the centre isnt it? I loved working on that one, I could see the possibilities for socialising, character networking etc just like the Roman Cena.

I'm going to merge the Agaria mod etc today, then do a few small items and release the mod so far again,

Inside a Holorian Villa. Let's imagine that the owners of this one are extremely wealthy... and they have mastered plumbing so as to make a believable waterfall.

You might notice some plants and others have been retextured... just recolored basically. Morning Glory's only came in two colors though by default.

I think the garden still needs some work, along with some clutter outside, probably going to put some banners and other fancy things.... also doors, haha.

Could easily be done by an underground aqueduct going through gradually narrowing pipes.
Looks very good.

A few bugs ironed out recently and almost ready to compile things for the updated modding release with the Agaria in it. We still need clothes to fit the period and some other stuff.

Can I be so bold as to ask people for suggestions throughout the community?

1. Clothing for an ancient world setting.
2. Turbans and desert garb, does anyone have anything we can use?
3. Any work people have done on Mesogea and maybe abandoned owing to family needs etc, please let me know.

Lastly, are there any other interesting mods that can be merged into this? Things people want to see.

Villa is looking good, Citizen86. :goodjob:

@thekarithian: I've been learning how to make clothing but I haven't come up with anything that doesn't look like crap, unfortunately. I'm still pretty bad at modeling, and the clothing is turning out to be harder than I expected. I'll keep plugging away at it, but I simply have too many projects on the go atm. I have to figure out what to concentrate on. I always seem to have this problem after finishing a major project. :shakehead:
