Messagebox Length

Be that I can not find why some activators with messagebox triggers (I believe) are creating CTD's with my testing. The only changes that I've noticed were 1) I tested with a new rig with Windows 7 and 2) I had one activator with a long message.

Can a long message create a crash? Is there a limit?

If you run into the limit it shouldn't let you save the script, so this must be due to something else. Are you sure the activator does nothing else, maybe something along the lines of messing with a deleted reference?

Not sure if there's a limit (seen boxes that fill 2/3 the window), or if it can cause a crash, but when you're writing something as long as a quest journal entry, you're almost always better off just making it a quest journal entry, or splitting it into 2 or more message boxes. Nobody likes reading a wall of text, and since message boxes don't allow much formatting, that's usually how it ends up.

If you're in doubt, you could always test with a temporary message that is shorter in length.

I kind of thought it might be because of a 100 character limit, so I checked and couldn't find anything. It's not a page, just about 100 characters I think. Never counted it. But it isn't giving me a problem now, and I don't even no why.

I first discovered it on my new i7 laptop and also found a few invisible creatures. I credited it to both win7 and incomplete installation, or corrupt. Then took the same files placed them in my old laptop and it worked fine. Near as I can figure is that I had an overlapping trigger zone, of which one is an auto change zone trigger. Anyways it works on both notebooks now and the invisible monsters are seen. :confused: I don't know.
