messed up the end game

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 5:16 am

So I was getting close to the end and decided to just quick finish. I think I lost controll of what I wanted somehow.
I was trying to get a yesman/NCR New Vegas. Is that possible first off? Yesman at one point says "too bad about the President", that was a time sensitve quest I assume? After Ceasars was defeated I get the NCR general at the gate but my only options were to talk him into retreating or combat. Was there another way? I had on my side for the final battle, Yesamn, NCR, Brotherhood, Bombers....well everybody except the Legion.
Were my goals of Yesman/NCR mutually exclusive? Or did I make a bad choise nearer the endgame?

Gotta admit, I'm hoping it was endgame, because I never saw that I had to pick one or the other coming....

I don't think you can do both . . . at some point near the end of act II you get a quest called "Don't Tread on the Bear" (or something like that). It is not really a quest . . . basically, it states that the NCR has spies everywhere and they will not tolerate any further collaboration with Yes Man. I was trying to do "both" as well, but after I upgraded the Securitrons with the Platinum chip and returned to speak with Yes man, the new quest apepared. I left off Yes Man and just continued with the NCR line.

I finished it for Yesman, it was an ok ending for me. Independant Vegas is better than a slave one. Next time I'll go NCR and see if a Vegas 'part of a bigger picture' suits me.

Other than the CTD's I enjoyed the game. Save often.

I absolutely hated the endgame. You play thru the whole damn game and are pretty much forced to align wilth the NCR (or otherwise skip half the quests) and end with no option to maintain your loyalties. The confrontation with the General is SO stupid. Well I had about (6) playthru's on FO3 but FONV is not taking any more of my time. Incredibly disappointing.

Forced to go with NCR? I went with House no problem.

Must be some major bugs in your version.

I wasn't forced to work with NCR when I took Vegas for Caesar.

I wasn't forced to wok with NCR when I took Vegas for Mr. House.

I wasn't forced to work with NCR when I took Vegas for myself. (Though Yes Man seems to be getting uppity...could be trouble down the road there)

When I say 'forced' I mean the majority of the side quests are for the NCR. If you want to get the most gametime you pretty much have to run their errands and stay in their good graces and stay in character if you're roleplaying. Of course you can do the 'all things to all people' playstyle. There's nothing stopping you from playing all sides of the fence.

There just wasn't anything satisfying about the endgame for me.

Most of the NCR quests don't involve the legion, and most of the legion quests can be done with out the NCR finding out.

It is amazing how much you can do for each faction before it becomes a problem. Basically, if you don't start killing one side or the other, both are quite happy to accept your help.

What my issue is, I remember the poster from the 60's that said "Suppose they gave a War and noone came?" so what I do is get everyone all revved up and ready to do the final battle, then I just let them wait. And wait, and wait.
