Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Official Thread #1

Post » Tue Sep 01, 2015 5:44 pm

Two more days until release. Gotta say, I'm hyped. This is going to be one hell of a game.

So glad they're releasing a PC version. Anyone else getting it on Steam? What are your thoughts? Can't say I'm happy about their choice of microtransactions but so far I think that's the only bad thing I have to say about it.

I got it reserved for the PS3, I might go the digital route that way it's always on my account and I can re-download anytime I wish.

*Sorry about the glare on the box, I'm not opening it up again.

After months of separation I'm getting my desktop out of storage next weekend, so this TPP will be first on my list. Won't have much time to play (being a fully-function member of society these days), but I'm looking forward to it.

I have it pre-ordered for PS4, I'm excited to play the phantom pain, but it serves as the denouement of a great story; the apotheosis of an incredible saga.

Like burial at sea 2 for Bioshock: Infinite, I'll play the TPP with a poignant admiration for the totality of this series, and with an admiration for its ultimately exiled auteur and his salient work.

In a world of incessant sequels, prequels; spin offs and reboots, there's a beauty to the finality of something great.

To the Metal Gear series :tops: :celebration: :thanks:

Edit:

If this seems overly lugubrious it's possibly because I'm practically sleeping on my keyboard.

I got it free with my GTX 970. I know there's lots of hype around the series, and hope the gameplay alone will hold up since I'm missing what I understand to be a long-spanning storyline.

All I can say is, after being a long time fan of the Metal Gear Series, and enjoying its lore almost as much as I do TES and Fallout's, I am severely insulted and disappointed over MGS5.

I wont reveal the leaked spoilers, because I'm not THAT much of an ass, but wow, just wow Kojima.

One should predicate their evaluations of the game on experience and not on isolated 'leaks' and hearsay, never mind notions of insult and disappointment.

Do you have a word of the day calendar? I've never seen this word used outside of a novel or a speech. :P
