Metro 2033 v. Crysis 2 Graphics

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:41 pm

I wasn't accusing you of faking it (why would you do that?), the CPU-Z information just didn't look right to me and seemed fake like a glitch/bug.. From all the chips I've worked with the bus speed is usually stock 200MHz.. But that is mostly AMD chips. ;)

Yes, I do need to brush up on my chip information, I've been seeing nothing but Sandy Bridge 2500K chips and 1090T's for the last six months in CPU-Z screenshots. Thanks a lot for the clarification! :)

And yes, I did just google it.. Thanks though for explaining it.

I can't really compare them. Overall Crysis 2 looks the best but the textures still svck. Metro looks great, but again, the textures svck but not as badly as Crysis 2's. I haven't played BC2 but it looks quite good but not outstanding.
STALKER Call of Pripyat gets my vote ;) despite its HORRIBLE optimization and HORRIBLE-looking trees/foliage and draw distances

Crysis 2, I thought the game looked great before DX11 arrived. To be honest, I'm not impressed with Metro 2033's graphics, and not to mention it is a power hog like Crysis 1, setting it to the max settings is almost unplayable, especially in areas there are lights present.

I'm definitely going with Crysis 2. Crysis 2 is much more realistic than Metro 2033. I recently watched a gameplay footage of Metro 2033 recorded on max settings, and the game doesn't look near as good as Crysis 2 in my opinion. I think Metro 2033 is more on the "artsy" side, while Crysis 2 is more on the "realistic" side. If you compare some of the rubble on the floor in both games, you can clearly see that Crysis 2's rubble is tessellated much better and has more detail. That's just my two cents, though.

LOL than you have to stop watching crappy youtube videos , buy a Metro 2033 and play it yourself.
In terms of "REALISTIC!" looking game , metro wins. All the people who vote for Crysis 2 just can`t see the difference ,what is realism and what is art styling or they are just C2 fanboys.
Remember i`m not talking about how and which game utilizes DX11 better, what i`m talking about is that Metro 2033 have the most realistic graphics so far + it`wasn`t a stupid console port at release.
About textures , someone mentioned they are bad in Metro 2033 , well then put you glasses on and look better tat the walls , i see smallest cracks in walls.
Crysis 2 is fail. Yes it looks good, but deffinetly not as good as Metro 2033 does.
Not agree with me?!
Then you better to setup the following rig and try to play Metro 2033 on maxed out !

CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5620E (@3.2GHz)
Cooling: 2x Thermaltake Frio
RAM: 48GB G.Skill RipJaws DDR3 [12x4gb] @ 1333mhz
Mobo: EVGA Super Record 2
GPU: 2x EVGA GTX580 (SLi)
HDD: 6.8TB on hard drives
SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB MAX IOH
PSU: Silverstone 1500W
Display: Acer GD245HQ 120hz LCD 1920x1080
Case: Lian-Li PC-P80
Keyboard: Logitech G19
Mouse: Razer Mamba
Headset: Roccat Kave 5.1 (with special headband cushion for pilot headsets, with such cushion i don`t even feel headset on my head)
3D Stereo: NVIDIA 3D Vision (with 1 extra pair of glasses ready if a friend is coming)
Head Tracking: TrackIR 5 (for simulators)

I`m not even talking about 3D Vision in Metro because with 3D Vision it looks even 3 times better than without it.
Crysis 2 have a fake 3D , which is not even working anymore after patch 1.9

Crysis2 is too bright and shiny, metro wins the realism front.

Although Stalker CoP has the best light/weather effects I've ever seen in a game

Metro doesn't look that good -.-
And I've got to say I love the effects in CoP, pity the foliage and optimization is terrible otherwise it could be one of the best engines

@Oleg, that suggested system is stupid.

My system 2 pages back can run metro@60fps, a single 2600K overclocked, 8gig of ram @2000mhz, SLI 580's and a sata3 SSD would do plenty.

48gig of slow ram will hurt more than help, dual xeons would also not help, the game would be lucky to utilise 4 threads let alone that many.

Sandy with high speed and fast ram would outperform that in metro, provided they used the same graphics power..

Also if I had that machine, I sure as **** wouldn't use a rubbish TT Frio cooler, that's when you make a custom water loop, I went that way and never went back

honestly I think crysis 2 is far better to look at than Metro 2033. tessellation in crysis 2 is way more noticable, the water in crysis 2 looks like you could scoup it up with your hands and get a drink. the lighting in crysis 2 is just perfect. i like playing metro 2033, its just that it seems dark and not very dynamic like crysis 2. has anyone checked out statue map in the multiplayer, man that looks awesome, and the ocean waves are so cool. objects are so much more visible in Crysis 2.

Metro looks like crap, played at max settings with all bells on at launch. good game (at hard mode). awesome lightning n particle effects, but horrid textures on the world in general. and enemies was just.... i was so disapointed.

Crysis 2 looks rather awesome in general at dx9 considering it got low res textures, think thats why some are still not "happy" with dx11, even thou they added alot neat effects it aint any major difference.
Loved both dx9 and dx11 version of crysis2 dont get me wrong, but im most impressed to this date by "http://www.udk.com/showcase-samaritan" (they needed 3 580gtx to run it, and its realtime). That is how i pictured dx11 to be in general. most games today with dx11 looks like dx9 with dx11 effects:p

http://www.hardocp.com did a review of the Crysis 2 graphical updates and deemed it a huge failure... I was depending on them for a purchase decision and they just made one for me. ^-^

Overall I would say Crysis 2 is the better looking game, especially in facial animation/textures. Metro has better special effects and utilizes dx11 better. Both are very good looking games in their own rights, even dx9 crysis 2 is a great looking game. Battlefield -3-, from what Ive seen, looks like it will be the best looking game when it is released.

hardocp talks about crashes and restarts with the updates but I had none, the whole process took about 1/2 hour with simple clicks of the mouse, and it works and looks great, I consider the DX11 and textures a gift. I paid $5 dollars for metro 2033 and thats all its worth. It would be nice if though if crytek would put out a demo for the single player, like in crysis 1. the online in crysis 2 is fun, it really is.

Crytek promised DX11 would be in the game at launch and they failed to deliver... How they call it a "gift" now, is despicable treatment of their fans that expected this at day 1.

One thing is for sure , Crytek won`t make that many pre-orders & sales with Crysis 3 or any other ganre they`re going to release.
They gained our trust with Far Cry 1 & Crysis 1, but since then something changed in their marketing.
After that Crytek have become just more likely as any other money svcking company without respect to it`s fans.
And multiplayer in Crysis 2 svcks , to littly COD maps with COD modes, not many maps to choose from.
Actually i start to hate any developer who`s copy-pasting COD.
WE PLAYERS HAVE HAD ENOUGN WITH COD.
Developers are just dumb enough to not see that.
I personally want to see BF3 more as BF2 was and not stupid a COD copy-paste game.
BFBC2 Failed in faces of BF2 fans, i`ve spoken to many BF2 players and everyone agreed with me.
BFBC2 is just not Battlefield anymore , its just another "Wanna be Call of Duty game".

Oh i so do wait for Metro 2034 Last Light.
Normaly i do think that developers have to improve their graphics with each release and other features.
This is the first time that i say "Metro 2034 doesn`t need that" it would be nice to see improvements in graphics , but it`s not main priority developer should be working on. The storyline and atmosphere in Metro is the most important so far, because this is what makes metro the metro.
Would be nice to see some multiplayer ,but this is also not a main priority for me, and if it will be multiplayer it should be not some stupid COD mode, but something unique what has to do with game storyline self.
This are just my opinions , most people i talk with do agree with me.

I agree that it would be cool if Metro had a MP. Definitely not a necessity for the game, but it would be nice to be able to keep playing it once you've completed the SP. Maybe a horde mode would be cool, where you have to stand grand against a large amount of mutants.

@Talon...I would recommend you to buy the game....its better to support Crytek then to support and company that develops COD
Support Crytek HAHAHAHA , NEVER AGAIN! Crysis 2 was my LAST SUPPORT. Does Crysis 2 looks to you not as another "Wanna be Call of Duty" game? Oh it deffinetly is , to me! The whole MP is COD copy. C1 was another story, way better multiplayer.
I`M NOT SUPPORTING CONSOLIZED DEVELOPER NOOBS and who`s MP is "Wanna BE Call of Duty"for me is enough of this dumb game cloning, think up something new i would say!

P.S. About Metro 2034 some very bad news for me:
http://www.industrygamers.com/news/thq-giving-metro-2034-big-push-to-compete-with-call-of-dutys/

"Those of you who loved 4A Games' atmospheric shooter Metro 2033 can breathe a sigh of relief. The sequel, Metro 2034, is still on THQ's radar and the publisher is working to make sure it's even better than its predecessor. The Ukraine-based developer worked hard to infuse the adaptation of Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel with a believable world and characters, and THQ took note of their craft.

"The sequel's even more advanced in terms of the technology. The sequel's going to get a lot more support than the first one got both from product development at THQ and marketing,” said THQ executive VP of core games Danny Bilson to IGN PC. “There were certain things in [Metro2033], even though it looked sensational, some of the shooting mechanics need to be better polished to compete with the Call of Dutys. They are this time. For marketing it'll get a much more respectful push.”

"It's an original Russian franchise. We don't want to mess with it and Americanize it. It's got its own point of view. Even though our guys in Agoura did a lot of the work on the fiction, this time it's still that vision. You're going to see a more polished game, you're going to see some crazy technology. We green-lit it before the other one shipped and you're going to see some of it at E3,” he continued.

The game is still without a concrete release date at this time."

Please don`t tell me it`s going to be another copy of COD.
If it will be another COD with same game modes as in COD, i think we need to shoot every developer with AK-47 in front of the wall for copying COD.
I`m not buying "Wanna be Call of Duty" games anymore. ENOUGH! And I`m not the last who will say that.
