MGE Manual for Dummies?

Post » Sat Sep 11, 2010 4:08 am

Hello. I was wondering if there's any manual (or anyone could make a "quick guide") in order to achieve the best quality in MGE. That'd include a good distant land generator manual with the best fog/distant objects ratio, selecting the best HDR shader, choosing a really nice water shader (I'd really like it), and maybe suggestions about getting animated grass & tress working. Well, to sum it up, the best MW graphics you could get.

I'm using the latest version (3.8.2 rev 178) of MGE. Thx in advance!

There is the http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/morrgraphext/index.php?title=Main_Page which can at least offer a guide on how to get most things functioning.
Since everyone has different computer specs, it's difficult to make a precise guide that would do the detailed work for you.

And of course, asking for help or advice in the current MGE thread is the best way to get results.

I failed to mention that I've already used the wiki, with identical failure results :( Especially at distant land generator (last time I tried, it was the same as Vanilla, but without the fog....really ugly...).

As for the specs, I've a pretty decent computer (Phenom II 920 4 cores, 4 gb RAM, nVIDIA 9600 GT), so I'm aiming pretty high.

Press 'best quality' on the first tab, and as for distant land there's a page which takes you through the distant land setup step by step (I did it 2 days ago for the first time).

Here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/morrgraphext/index.php?title=Creating_Distant_Land

EDIT: Well I don't know how you could create distant land if you don't use that guide. It literally takes you step by step.

Well, after several trials, and blue screens of death™, I think i've managed to get it running as I want. Although I still don't know why the default water shader wasn't running on my first attempt, and now it does...oh, well, I must've messed up something...

I must say (and it's not the first time), that Phal's water shader (I think the water shader included with svn 178 is from him) is one of the best water effects I've ever seen in a game. Simply impressive.
