MGE XE problem

Ok so recently I've upgraded from MGE to MGE XE but the problem is that everytime I load my game it ctds, I have no clue what I did wrong in the upgrade but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

Have you re-run distant land with MGE XE and so on?

wow even uninstalling it and uninstalling everything that had to do with MGE or MGE XE didn't work, I still get the same error ._. so I'm guessing the latest edition is borked beyond belief.

Double check earlier version numbers of this thread. I had the same problem and fixed it but forget exactly what it was. I'm using MGE XE ver 0.9.8 if that's of any help.

Oops, meant the official MGE XE thread, "Shelter from Magnus Blaze".

An immediate CTD often means a missing master file.

No I have all the master files right and I ctd when "loading area" finishes, I get an error message saying "runtime has been terminated" or something. I also have the latest release of MGE XE and all the proper files :\

Did you try searching the official MGE XE thread - Shelter from Magnus Blaze? If nothing else, Hrnchamd keeps an eye out and is very helpful once he sees someone asking for help. I'm not saying you will get an immediate response as in today, just that it usually happens sooner than later. And when you post, remember to post your hardware/software info. Hrnchamd has a note somewhere about what it is but IIRC it includes mobo, CPU, graphics card, graphics driver, O/S and if you have turned on or off shaders, DL and "MGE in game".

If you are getting the error without MGE then it has to do with mods. Let us see your mod list and warning.txt. I suspect MWSE dependent mods.

If you are getting the error without MGE then it has to do with mods. Let us see your mod list and warning.txt. I suspect MWSE dependent mods.

Err...but...doesn't MGE XE have an internal MWSE in it? Or is that broken?

It does, it runs fine for me too. But I have some suspicions. Did you check the prerequisites? Like latest directx 9.

Have you disabled all mods and try it that way? (Mash can save mod lists.)

Does anybody happen to know how to fix objects visibility in MGE XE? No matter how many cells I load, stuff disappears too close to me. I'd like Vivec and Ebonheart buildings to load further. What's the setting that controls this?

You see those min size, end dist columns. Those control what you see and when you see. They have tooltips explaining what they do.

I am out of ideas. Maybe a reinstall is in order.

That is probably hardcoded. I'm not sure.

Yes, I meant the game. I don't think MGE can break a game like that, something else is broken.

So did reinstalling change that? Morrowind runs fine by itself or with regular MGE?

You have to give us some information. "Not working" is too vague.

In your Morrowind folder, check these files:
warnings.txt
MGEXE.log

and post them here.

Also try updating your video drivers, that's my last resort. What was your video card again? I hope it is not intel GMA?

Its not, its an ATI radeon 3000 as for MGE, MGE works fine because I've played morrowind perfectly with MGE, even re-installed MGE and it works.

I think we found the problem. Hrnchamd will know better but that is an equivalent of intel graphics card. Probably not compatible with MGE XE.

PS. You can still install a newer driver and try it.

This card is probably the reason why MGE XE won't work; it's by no means powerful enough. If you want to use MGE XE with distant land etc. you'll need a better GPU. The latest versions of MGE XE shift a lot of work to the graphics card and a Radeon 3000 is not going to cut it I think.
