MGE - sandstorm texture?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:28 am

After hours of configuring MGE I got everything to work. I'm also a texturesmod Morrowind Visual Pack 3.0 and SWG skies mod.
That's where my question comes. I'm not sure wether MGE is creating the sandstorms (like in Aldruhn), or if if MVP replaced the sandstorm texture or if SWG skies did it. But I really don't like the sandstorms anymore. The original ones are much better. Right now when there is a sandstorm it is extremely obvious it is just a texture moving closer, you can see a lot of reference points in the texture, like twirls, that quickly come by into your characters face. No more the "noisy texture" that really felt like hundreds of sandgrains were blowing into your face.

Can anyone give me an answer to what this might come from? Can this sandstorm texture be replaced with something better or perhaps the original? What is it called and which one you recommend? Help!

Thanks!

That would be from SWG's skies.

You can just delete those specific sandstorm files, and the game will revert back to the original ones.

The files are:
tx_ash_cloud
tx_ash_flake
tx_blight_cloud

(in the Texture->particles folder)

Thanks, I will check this out tomorrow after work. From the texturenames I gather they are those for all sandstorms in Vvardenfell incl. blight?
I just read that SWG skies also replaced the rain particles. Is it possible to delete somekind of file too for this so it revert back to original rain? Would be great to know which one in that case.

That would be tx_raindrop_01 from the same folder.

in the case of the rain drops, you'll also need to search in your meshes folder for a file with raindrop in it's name also.

Wow thank you for the quick and helpful replies. I will check this tonight. I suppose regarding the rainmesh there can be only 1 rainmesh file, and deleting that single one will help fix the problem and revert to original, right?

I just wondered if there is perhaps a variable or task in the morrowind.ini that can be changed so that the outdoor lighting during my rain/thunderstorm doesn't get so dark? Right now it can turn as dark as midnight, even though the time is normal daytime ingame, which is rather unrealistic.
Thanks!

Yes, in the [Weather Thunderstorm] section you will see the Ambient Day Color, among other settings too.

If you haven't previously edited these colours, then you might just need to raise the Gamma setting in your menu, because default isn't very dark.
