MGE screenshot thread

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:54 am

A few years back there wasn't anywhere to post Scenic Screenshots. We had a Character ScreenShot Thread. So I started a Scenic Screenshots thread.
Early on we talked about if photo shop was ok. Now Scenic Screenshots is very heavy with MGE, plus there are tons of questions about it and it's shaders.
So now it has it's own thread for MGE.

Character Screenshots #116

Last Thread:- http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=967128

How do I enable and take screenshots of my game?

You'll need to edit your Morrowind.ini file (see brief how-to below). But first, back up the file in case you make a mistake, or if you later want to restore it to its original state.

(by DragoonWraith)

Enabling Screenshots:

Open Morrowind.ini (C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Morrowind.ini in the default Windows installation), and you'll see a lot of code. In the eighth, largest section under [General], there is a line which says

Screen Shot Enable=0

Switch that to

Screen Shot Enable=1

Now, in Morrowind, press the Print Screen button on your keyboard (the button is sometimes hard to find, often you need to use the Shift key). You'll see a message which tells you that the screenshot has been created. It can be found in your main Morrowind folder.

(Addendum by ~Ninja Monkey)

To extend on the tutorial for taking screenshots above, you should change your pictures from a bitmap image to a jpeg image if you will be hosting your screenshots on the internet. To do this, open them up in Paint or any other photo editing program, go to "Save As..." and save as a jpeg file. Do NOT simply edit the file name from Screenshot#.bmp to Screenshot#.jpg. That only changes the file name, not the file type.

I agree maybe it is best that the thread should be about graphics within the game. Photoshop only, can stay on Scenic screens. The idea here is MGE. Not photoshop.

But it's everyone's thread so who knows right now.

Because MGE was used in every one of those screenshots. Idc it makes no difference to me.

I would prefer MGE only so we can see how it can be used.

This is the best time for an open discussion on how to use this thread. No one is right and no one is wrong. Just views and opinions. :foodndrink:

I vote MGE only and list your shaders (I want to know who uses mine :P, actually, some of them I like and want to know where to get them).

This, as well as people should post their distant land settings and (if applicable) their ENB INI settings.

@ SWG
The ENBseries is very not user friendly. Many people have different settings and its best to just experiment with your settings as I did.

That being said, I will throw a few screens in here. I am using MGE, MGE's full bloom shader, and the ENBseries.
The mods included are my Witchwood mod, and my solstheim grass mod.

Posting your setup is bad in my opinion. Many people have their different looks on how morrowind should be. Take in factor the ENBseries. Its amazing graphic wise but its not user friendly. Many people have different settings and most just experiement with different settings. You shouldn't rely on someone to post their settings cuz their morrowind looks good. Try out some of your own creations with different settings. Im not being critical to the idea, im just leaving some feedback.

With this thread up, I will be certain to drop some screens every now and again I see a good spot to take some in morrowind. My ENBseries settings are always changing as the same for my MGE. Ive been using different kinds of the ENBseries rather than the two vality has available. Many didnt work with morrowind alot but some did. The best are vality's two choices because they work the best.

Hmm...I may change my mind about posting the ENBsettings. Looking various screenshots recently, I guess I would like to see what other people try.

I did not use my ENB in this screen. I also changed my view distance so its a little shorter.
