Mge with Steam

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:39 am

Ok, I've recently gone through Morrowind with a fine comb, and I've managed to remove every error. Finally :celebration: .

But, I still have one issue. Whenever I try to use MGE with Steam, I'll get blacks screens and crashes everywhere. It just doesn't seem to like Steam.

I like to use Steam for the chat function. It saves me having to minimise the game (which MGE doesn't like) whenever someone is trying to contact me via some IM service. This means that disabling the GUI isn't an option. I have a hard copy of Morrowind that I've assigned as a non steam game. I haven't downloaded the game via Steam.

I plan to merely use distant land, and perhaps Grass / Magnus Blaze.

Any help on the situation would be great, thanks.

I've tried the MGE thread multiple times, without response, so I think I may be better creating a new thread.

Steam's ingame overlay feature won't work with MGE, unfortunately.

@kingpix He didn't buy it from Steam, it is a hard copy. He doesn't need to do any of that date changing.
@OP Sorry, as of right now, you cannot run MGE with the Steam overlay enabled. I once ran MGE XE with the Steam overlay, and loaded a save. I could use the menus and hear sound but everything was black (nothing was being rendered I think). So you will just have to play without it.

Oh, damn. :ermm:

Any plans to release Steam support? I can't be the only one who uses it.

I would love for it to work also.

I made Xfire work with some editing of configuration files. Although I couldn't enable mouse support.

So +1 for Xfire mouse control and Steam overlay support.

Weird thing is that when I ran MGE 178 with MGE XE with the in-game community enabled, my morrowind worked without any notable side-effects.
