MGSO or MAO - or both?

Hi,

I'm going to start a new Morrowind playthrough soon, after so many years. I was thinking of installing MGSO and just a handful of mods on top of it. But this mod, Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul caught my attention. Its preview video on YouTube sounds excellent and those who used the mod praise it highly. However, there is no certainty about whether it conflicts with MGSO or not, not even the mod author is sure.
I searched the net and found only two results about the possible conflict between these mods. One user says adding MAO on top of MGSO makes the game more prone to CTDs, while the other user reports no problems whatsoever.
Is there anyone here who uses/used both mods together?

Also, many players say MAO's MWSE-dependent plugin causes lots of crashes. Does anybody have any experience about this?

MGSO is a collection of mods and utilities.

Amongst the mods included are Duncan's Atmospheric Sound Effects and TJ and Jeka's Better Sounds. I believe the two plugins have been edited to play nicely together and remove some problems with the orginal Better Sounds.

If you're looking to use Morrowind Acoustic Overhaul, I'd say not to use these mods at the same time.

So if I disable ASE and Better Sounds, would I be good to go, or might there still be problems?

I prefer MAO. Never had a crash from it as far as I can remember. You can get everything in MGSO manually and more up-to-date versions at that, so I never bothered with it. MAO is amazing though.

I should think so. Just make sure you backup your Music and Sound folder before installing MAO.

Dunno, I've only ever used ASE.

Based on its feature list MAO should be the only sound mod you need.
