Microphone

Are going to use a microphone?
I've heard you cant use voice chat to get used to how the characters are communicating with each other. The developers were trying to minimize the need for chatting, but im sure real communication will matter a lot.
I have never used a microphone on an FPS before, but I have ordered one with the game Im taking the teamplay seriously

i will. you apparently can't use voice chat until rank 2 for the reason above, but after that, comms will be important to ensure accuracte intel and precision coordination.

I will and I wont.

And yeah you can't use the voice chat until rank 2 so you can get used to the in-game chat that the game says. And to use teamwork without talking.

I think it could be best used for when for example your team needs more time to blow up the gate and you ask someone to complete a side mission to get additional time

the in-game comms support those without mics fairly well, apparently. your character auto-says everything important so if you don't have a mic, your okay.

I don't use a mic at all when playing BFBC:2 (except with friends) the in-game comms help with that.

Nope. I don't have a microphone and I've observed that people respect me much much more if they don't hear my squeaky 15-year-old voice.

S long as you're not yelling or singing, I don't see why they would care.

I appreciate the non mic users that use the in game comms in bfbc2, I hate the ones that shoot you to get your attention, If you shoot me to get medical supplies I will defib you after I turn you into swiss cheese. I'm actually hopeful brink will have more mic/comm use so i dont have to shoot teammates that think I appreciate being shot by them to give them meds

in Brink, yo can easily see an ally stat that pertains to your class. medics can see health bars, soldiers can see ammo counts, etc, all intergrated into the FoF indicator.

You can see the same info in BFBC2, what i'm talking about is when said person is behind you, instead of using in game comms to say "I need ammo" so you can turn around and hand them some, people have the habit of putting a round into you to get you to flip around, those people I just shoot until dead, then revive.

i wouldn't boter reviving them. if they want it and can't say so for whatever reason, then they should just get in front of someone who can give it to them.

I am actually considering purchasing the Tritton Ax Pro Headset. It's hard to really enjoy the amazing sounds of games when your roommates are sleeping this way I could go all out fully enjoying a games great SE and Music as well as get a nice advantage being able to hear where footsteps ect are coming from.

Has anyone on here used these or have these by any chance? I know there are better headsets but I am on a limited budget and these give you a good bang for your buck.

I have 4 dogs who are always barking at something, so probably not. And of course one of them chewed my headset/mic so it only works sometimes anyways.

That's my issue but it normally doesn't stop me. In teamplay especially I intend to use a mic as much as possible. In game Comms are nice. But they can only get you so far. You can't exactly strategize when no one can talk. At least when I initially start my friends and I will just be in a live Party so that shouldn't matter.
