Microsoft Mouse Scrolling

Hello,

I recently got a new mouse. It is a Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 4000. I installed the latest intellipoint drivers (8.0.219.0).

However scrolling does not work like it should in Fallout 3.
Scrolling on the world map is unusable. The moment I start scrolling it quickly zooms in and also immediatly zooms out.
Scrolling through my items can only be achieved by scrolling for very long only to see the scrollbar having moved a small piece (it doesn't scroll slow it just only respond after having scrolled a long time)

So far Fallout 3 is the only program with this problem. The scrolling weel works very good with other programs. I have however noticed the scrolling wheel is very sensitive and I believe this to be the problem.

I found some scroll related options in the INI file but changing these didn't seem to change anything. Yet this does not have to mean anything because I really don't know for sure what these options do.
These options are (with there default values on my system):
fScrollKnobRate=0.0015
fScrollKnobIncrement=-0.100

The drivers that came with this mouse (on a cd) which was version 7.0 also had this problem. Tinkering with the mouse options via configuration screen did not seem to help.

Does anyone have any experience with this mouse and/or does someone know how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure if this might work but it won't hurt to try:

Add the following lines to the [Controls] section of the ini file found in MyDocuments, MyGames......:
fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0
fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0
fForegroundMouseBase=0
fForegroundMouseMult=0
