Bittersweet news. They now charge for the Kinect 2.0 SDK for non-XB1 systems. $400.

If it wasn't for developers who took the Kinect off the 360 and truly utilized its power, the Kinect 2.0 wouldn't be around to today.

To charge them is asinine, ridiculous, and insulting.

In all honesty, i'm waiting for M$ to start charging people $.50 per gig downloaded off their network, on top of their monthly subscription.

THIS JUST IN: Microsoft now requires all people who use the username "Colonel Martyr" on BGSF to pay $0.50 per gig downloaded form the marketplace.

Microsoft products don't come with soft clothing that is microscopic. All the microscopic friends in my body have nothing to wear thanks to Microsoft.

Hooray is all I have to say about the good thing that happened.

The fees never stopped developers from releasing buggy games anyways, so let them patch it for free.

M$ must really be hurting if they are doing this, haahah. Good, let them earn their money this time. Every penny after such a.... [censored] move they attempted.

I'm wondering if they will now insist you subscribe to a gold account to get patches even if you play offline.

Currently we don't pay for xbox live because we don't play MMOs on it. I've a feeling there will be no free accounts (silver) with XOne.

This is good hopefully Microsoft doesn't charge video game development companies for patches on Xbox One. SONY said they don't do this for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and hasn't charged indie video game developers and indie video game development companies on PlayStation 3 (PS3).

Maybe we can finally see free DLC's again like we PC gamers did 5+ years ago.

VALVe charged you for the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC's on Xbox 360 because of the stupid patch fees which we PC gamers go for free.

CD Projekt RED also complained about this they said DLC's for the PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be free while it will depend on the platform holders if they will charge for DLC's or not for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Xbox One version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Activision, Electronic Arts (EA) and Ubisoft I can tell that they will charge for DLC's because they have exclusivity deals with the video games they are publishing for the PC, PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One. Because they love making money off of everything lets hope they follow in VALVe's and CD Projekt RED's footsteps.

So how many of you think we will see free DLC's from more video game publishing companies and video game development companies in the future other than CD Projekt RED and VALVe (Which currently offer free DLC's on PC only).

Their [censored] treatment of indie gamers, the fact consoles are are still miles behind PC tech, no proper digital distribution, and therefore nowhere near the competition of pricing on PC. And no mods, and still DRM, and other sh*t. There ya go, slick.

I don't see how stopping doing something bad is something good to be commended for.

If I stop kicking you in the nuts it isn't the same as stopping someone else from kicking you in the nuts.

Yay, Developers have less incentive to delay release until they work out the bugs!

As far as I know the indie game Fez is still bugged on Xbox because the guy couldn't afford the patching fees? Time to fix that, I think.

Phil Fish has decided that he hates everything Microsoft and will badmouth everything related to them even without knowing anything about it.

Not the same thing at all. This is progress. MS could cure cancer, cure world hunger, stop all wars, and people would complain that they put doctors out of the job, put farmers out of the job, and put weapons manufacturers out of the job.
