Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable woes

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:04 am

Hey folks!

I've been trying to install a lot of things recently - But I can't. A lot of games require Microsoft VC++, but I can't install it, because, for some reason, the install hangs at the configuration phase, and when I press cancel, it just keeps on hangin'. This goes on for forever.

I thought to myself "Oh, I'll just uninstall all this stuff, and install the newest version, right?" That didn't work, the uninstall hangs, too.

Could anyone help me out?

Which is:

I know that when I install games that require a newer version of MVC++, it does it automatically from the disk. Are you using the disks to install it, or from the website?

The shining example right now is Visual Studio 2010, which I got on ISO through Microsoft's DreamSpark program (They have really good customer service, surprisingly.)

It says "Installing VC redist *Insert version here*" and it it's pretty much done, and the whole install bar is green, and then it's still green, and a good hour later it's still making the stubborn statement that green is good.

I could probably get a screenshot without too much hassle, if you'd want it.

Oh, and this is my 2000th post! Qapla!

So your install/uninstalls don't complete?
Why are you using an iso to install it? They have executables. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=a7b7a05e-6de6-4d3a-a423-37bf0912db84&displaylang=en is the one you probably want.
Gratz on 2k posts. :)

Ah, Visual Studio is Microsoft's programming suite, not VC++ :P

I'm majoring in journalism, and I plan on going to another country and go to a school like Full Sail.

(Starting to regret my journalism major, though, I could be done in two years if I picked something simple like adv. physics and so forth - But I need more credits to graduate as a journalist, so I'll be done in five, yay!)
