Microwave Emitter

Post » Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:25 pm

Really?

Really?

That's all I get?
I wade through Tribals and Hicks who do some kind of built-in armor-ignoring damage MINIMUM, making me waste 200 stimpacks in an hour worth of play.

And that's all I get?

Really?

I did it for the fun and the reward is more like a trophy from Point Lookout.
Point Lookout was so much fun. At this point you should be able to afford more ammo and stimpacks i mean wtf, i know the reward isn't enough but i enjoyed the ride, didn't you?

No, you had some fierce battles in new surroundings and got to hang out with a mustachioed ghoul with a sixy accent and you had the opportunity to loot the mansion, the panic room and the underground lab. You can cart away a ton of supplies from there.
The Microwave Emitter is a pretty nice weapon. I don't know why everyone hates on it.

I guess my issue is I played it with a level 30.
Popping tons of stimpaks. How enjoyable will this be on a lesser?

I don't like the Microwave Emitter at all. How can a weapon possibly be dangerous when it makes a sound when you fire it?

Have you actually tried to use it? Because I can kick serious butt with it at about a 40 yard range.

I have used it, but the sound put me off so much it just didn't feel right. I prefer the brutal sound of a Terrible Shotgun or Xuanlong.

Well, you do get the other spoils, yet I understand. The weapon appears to be an afterthought.

However, if you look closely, the weapon works well for VATS sniping. The weapons does up to 60 damage plus 100 critical damge. Now, if you've Better Criticals and use a headshot (works for most biological enemies), you can inflict up to 840 points of damage. [60+(100*1.5)]*2*2. This means the damage is doubled for a sneak attack and doubled AGAIN for a headshot (doesn't work for all enemies).

Now, I don't know how Lady Killer/Black Widow, Bloody Mess, Ghoul Ecology, Robotic Expert, Entomologist Expert, nor Superior Defender affect the mathematics. Nonetheless, that's still pretty good for an afterthought weapon, even if you can't self-repair it. (Try Haley from Haley's Hardware or Crazy Wolfgang w/workman overalls for best repairs).

Not to risk spoiling too much, but a room in the hotel has a fun story that leads to...

Those stoned Tribals are ridiculously overpowered, but they do level up with you. I just did it at level 9 in FWE and got kilt a few times.

Doesn't the microwave emitter use mesmetron cells that means the emitter would get in the way of my slave trading.

That is just what we thought an alien weapon would look like back in the 1950s and early 1960s.

microwave emitter is okay, you know if i was level 10. since im level 30 i stick with.... anything other than that. guass rifle, tesla cannon, alien blaster, THOSE are nice rewards. microwave emitter isnt.

have you noticed that even aliens cant make an ammo smelt for batteries? i mean, they have the techonology to make me a snowman, the least they can do for a reward is a battery shifter. THAT would be a good reward for point lookout.

Main problem is that it is unusable outside of VAT because it’s too big it covers the aim point. Yes the sneak attack in VAT look very good and the standard VAT damage is not bad, and it’s a special weapon.
Main reward for Point Lookout is the two +5 damage/bullet perks you get.
Makes shotguns and full auto way more effective.
