microwaving frozen water

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:44 am

I once tried to thaw out a bottle of frozen water with the regular microwave timer, not a defrost option. It started to zap about all electrically. Would that potentially blow up a microwave if it conducted enough electric charge?? I always thought since then, dont put liquids into the microwave, but then I realized.. I heat up coffee and soups etc etc all dang day.

What is the significance of the water being frozen??? is the electric charge insignificant, let it carry on through without threat?

Teach me/.

The water was possessed by Satan and your microwave is a portal to Earth. I hope you kept him from breaking into this realm to pull a Mehrunes Dagon.

Was there any metal on the bottle? Because that's the only time I've seen sparks in a microwave...

Yeah, only metal causes sparks in a microwave. Thawing water in microwave is safe. Unless it's pure H2O, then it superheats, and boils explosively when it comes to contact with something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_OXM4mr_i0
