Mid-Game Customisation

Maybe tattoos. And hair color. But I think the overall face should stay the same from beginning to end... And scars are kinda... permanent... Not that tattoos aren't, but you could pretend they're henna...
No such thing as Henna scars. lul

That wouldn't be such a bad idea. So I wouldn't mind it.

I liked how they did it in DA2 because unless you got the game new you were stuck with the same look unless you restarted the game or bought the DLC place to change ur looks.

I hate it yet love it because sometimes in Oblivion since we can't move the camera around the character they might end up looking good in the character creator but butt ugly out in the game world in certain lighting, so i kinda hope you can change your characters looks but for a price maybe not REAL money but like in Fable where you had to BUY the hair and stuff you want to change otherwise unless i had the coin for it i would change it all the time and never be happy..

I am just waiting for the time when we can make our own hair in the games, like a paint effect where you put lines here and there for a look than the game fills it it with how the hair is drawn up in game where you can edit it and such, because sometimes i want my hair longer than it is or wilder looking than the artiest have drawn up

We need some cosmetic surgeons as well, in case the lighting is terrible again in the starting prison/dungeon.

Barber minigame?

I already play that game with my fighter in Oblivion, every bad guy are given a clean shave.

Yeah, barbers would be great.

I would like very much to have a free camera around our character when using 3rd like in WoW or The Witcher. It looks great to be able to look another direction than your character in 3rd view because you can admire his/her stature, looks, armor, compare your size to the others around you, etc...

For PC, if you held down R you could get a freeview. Not sure about Xbox.

Me gusta.
However, I think certain races may be a little limited in this aspect *couch*argonians*cough*
Tattoos and scars should be changeable, as its not hard to envision a healer removing scars, and tattoos as we know them today (read the permanent kind) probably didn't exist back then, or were too expensive due to the dyes. Body paint is more acceptable and definitely changeable. I'm waiting on someone to make a William Wallace that way now.

yeah the more customization the better,
i'd love to see a body weight scale too, not unlike the one in fable - with high strength giving you muscles, and a lot of eating/drinking giving you a belly

HIGHLY disagree. I think you should be able to choose your weight at the start of the game, and maybe go to someone who can change it mid-game, but I don't want to have to play like the Sims and have to worry about my weight. :/

Some good ideas on this thread.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some form of barber shop in the game, and it seems hard to imagine an authentic Nord town that didn't have a tattoo parlour. Maybe you could change hairstyles by having braids fitted, for example, or a tattoo added to celebrate the finishing of certain quests.

But I don't agree with random in-game character adjustments, like changing weight, gender, stats etc. It needs to be something that makes a bit of sense!

Heya forum!

So here's one thing Fallout had that neither Morrowind nor Oblivion did, and that is the ability to customize your character after s/he's been created. Shouldn't we be able to do that? There should be barbers, and maybe even tattoo artists in the game. They could even give characters scars and visible injuries during battle that go away after healing.

How do you guys like the idea? Do you think it should/would be implemented?

I totally agree. One of my favorite features in Fallout 3 was the ability to change my character's appearance mid-game. There could be barbers for changing your hair and facial hair styles, tattoo artists to give and remove tattoos, and even some sort of magical way to change your actual facial appearnce, like the facial surgeon in FO3.

Nah,

I don't understand the obsession with looks in a game; just never seems to move character development nor plot along. Seems kind of superfulous to me

LOL at character customization being superfluous. Im going to be looking at a character for 100+ hours, I go through the trouble of getting everything else just right for my character, why would I want him to look generic?

I don't know why YOU would want him generic, truely  All of the fiddlin' around just gets in the way of playing the game, or what I consider to be playing the game  It's just subjective :)

Maybe we play for different reasons, appreciate different aspects of games, and are at opposite ends. I never make my character look just right and base what they wear off of the stats regarding encumberance and protection; never spend more than 15 minutes on face design; and it's 500+ hours :)

Just not my :foodndrink: :nope: But I do hope you enjoy yours! :)

Oh, now if the scars are quest related, or tie into story or game mechanics, then I'd be fine with them. But again, I'm not doing it for looks, but for the impact on the game.

This isn't fable. As much as it could be cool of implemented right- it just doesn't seem to fit TES, which might be why it was only seen in Fallout. I wouldn't mind seeing a barber but other than that it just seems like your going too far out of the TES feel. Lionhead is a decent developer, but nowhere near the skill or capability of Bethesda. I trust they will get it right :D
