Or simply re-do all the Pilgramage. Pray at one of each of the Nine Divines. It can be done multiple times (so long as you don't use the Grey Cowl).

I'm having a problem with Oblivion gates.

I closed the Kvatch gate with no problem BUT then I got the "Midas Oblivion Gate" spell and closed a couple of those. Then I wanted to go about finishing the MQ - Aid for Bruma quest, where you need to close every city's gate. I couldn't even get into the Leyawiin gate, it displayed a "this door leads nowhere" message. The other gates I could get into but when I grabbed the sigil stone I wasn't teleported to the outside and the gate didn't close. So, no quest update. I tried to summon a Midas gate, went into it but also couldn't close it by grabbing the sigil stone.

Is there a console command, or anything that could fix my problem? I started a thread about it some time ago but no one answered me. Please, please help.

ps. when I first encountered the problem I managed to fix it by closing a Midas Oblivion gate and then the normal gates functioned normally. But due to some problems I needed to reinstall my OS and I lost all my saves. The only backup I had was from the time the problems started happening but before I closed a midas gate and fixed the problem. I tried fixing it again but it didn't work.

Hi there.

I am new to Midas Magic and I got really frustrated by this mod from the very start. What is the meaning of the superballs except for a cheat to get all the spells? And then there are these whatever essences that are supposed to get but from where or by what machine? I am not very patience person and I generally avoid playing games where one has to figure out unlogic riddels. I have read all the books in the store, basemant and upstairs but no clue from where I get these astral ingredients or items and essence. These machines?? Should I put ebony weapons in to get ebony essence or what?

If you have read all the books, then you should get a glimpse of what to do. For example the machine that is next to the door to the basemant can break down or combine gold nuggets. It works the same with jewellery. The machine downstairs is used to break down sigil stones. The elements will vary according to the sigil stone. All the effects are described in the books in Midas' shop.

All the riddles are logical and demand patience, which is something you apparently lack. Take your time with the mod, it's worth it. You can get the astral ingredients from the astral planes. There is a spoiler on the opening post that says how to get there.

As for ebony, you can always try to put some ebony in there and see what's going to happen.

The superball is useless unless you want to cheat. Everything else can be easily figured out by reading the various books that are spread around Midas' shop. I don't like unlogic riddles either, and there is nothing in Midas Magic which I would consider unlogic. The only riddle I had difficulties with is the crossword puzzle, due to not being a native english speaker.

I finished my first question, but now I have another, how do I get into the bigger gate in Midas's basemant? I activated the heart crystal but now I don't know what to do..

Hey, first off, I love the mod. I was a little put off at first, since as a low level character I wanted to test out some of the new spells, but found most were either too high leveled or required items I didn't have access to. Now that I've grown a little and gotten to test out more spells, though, it's really one of my favorite mods. I haven't even begun to delve into the astral realm, either.
Couple glitches:
Fire breath sometimes doesn't go, or hesitates to 'fire' until near the end of its duration.
Although I haven't tried the shock one yet, the frost and fire traps sometimes fall through the floor. I realize this may not be your fault, but it's worth mentioning. Edit: This happens pretty often, especially outdoors.

I've begun a new character and wanted to get a hold of a few choice spells from within the Astral realms, however it now seems I have to

get hold of all 5 prisms again and activate the large crystal. Can this be true or is there a faster way of obtaining the few spells I need?
Question 2: As I recall when I finally got the large crystal activated (with my last character) I got a holy spell for free. Is that the only way to obtain that spell? If I play an evil character I wouldn't really want the spell (or perhaps I'd only want later)?

Just READ through this thread. I had some issues with this same gate, and have asked questions, and the answers are all here in this thread.

Hi, I'm having a serious problem in the ayleid graveyard place (a warlord's luck quest). whenever i go forward towards the first zombie or stay there too long my game crashes. I have no idea why this is happening. I already tried to change the load order, graphics, and resting, but it always crashes.

Edit: now its crashing everywhere. SI, trying to steal something. plz help this hasnt happened till now

I have no idea what's wrong but whenever I put in a Grand Soul Gem, filled or not, to create a spell with the other ingredients, it says that no new spells were created when I cast a spell on it.

If I remember correctly, there is nothing much going on in TAR. Just that you'd get hurt getting in the tar, and those Tar Fiends are pretty tough too. Kill them and get the ingredients for creating a Summon Tar Fiend spell, if you want to. Other than that, there's not much to do in there.

I think you gotta use the Grand Soul Gem that has a 500gold value instead of the cheaper 200gold one.

(You probably get this a lot) But when going through the FAQs I noticed that Summoning Tyrael is part of the quest but it won't let me into the temple saying "Only those with the grace of the Nine may enter" I don't understand how am I supposed to enter the temple?

I believe (i.e I haven't done it yet) you need to get the "Pilgrim's Grace" power from visiting wayshrines for each of the nine divines.

Hi there. First off, love this mod. It's great fun and quite challenging.

I've got a bit of a problem though. At the Astral Spire I'm running into a consistent CTD when up against the atronach up there. http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/ab338/SlapHappyChappy/oblivion/ScreenShot0.jpg.

I launch off a couple of fireballs and he comes running down the ramp. When he gets near the bottom though, I get a CTD every time. It happens when he's standing still, running, fighting me or fighting my summons.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

[edit] I'm using version 0.990. I downloaded 0.991A, and I'll try that one out later today (RL beckons :rolleyes: )

The mark and recall spell lets you place a marker and return to it later. For example, before entering a dungeon, you cast Astral Mark. After you go exploring and pick up loot until you can hardly move, you cast it again. Then you can jump straight back to outside the dungeon, dump loot and jump back to where you were before. Pretty handy.

Hey Xilver, guess who's back (again)?

yep. This time I got some things.


(people who have not took midas mod apart with the TESCS will not know what i'm talking about here)

1. freeze based spells. They need to do their damage all-at-once instead of over time. IE theMidasFreezeRayTouchSpell does 9 damage over 5 seconds. It needs to simply do 45 damage over 0 seconds. Why do I say this? Because of the way the freeze effect works for midas. People who are frozen cannot heal or receive damage while frozen. So putting 9 damage over 5 seconds won't really do anything.
The general rule regarding frost is this: if it freezes, it needs to do all-at-once damage. if not, it can do over-time damage.

2. Strength and Creatures:
I noticed for the longest time you use "Fortify strength" and "AttackBonus" For your beast effects. Unfortunately this doesn't really do anything at all (Fortify Strength only increases carry weight, and Attackbonus doesn't do anything at all for creatures not using weapons).
Only two methods I Know of that might work to fix this are modifying HandToHand, or an OBSE method which I know you won't use. I will include both versions in Modular Midas.

3. Anti-magic spells
ever consiter adding in Stunted Magicka instead of drain willpower? much more effective.

4. New project: I'm working on a new project (some are already aware of it) that makes Midas for OOO, Midas for SM, and midas for (insert overhaul here) obsolete: Modular midas.
its basicly a series of plugins that allows you to:

- Reduce costs of midas spells by 1/2, 1/4, or 3/4s.

- Increase Damage of MOST spells and durations of others by either 2x, 1.5x, 1.25x or 4x

- Special versions for the above for SM poison effects

- Seperate multipliers for Eldrich Spells (2x, 2.5x, 3x, 4x, or 6x)

- Special versions for the above for SM poison effects

- Addon that removes the tiger leveling restriction. Usefull for those using alternate leveling mods or just want to create an unstoppable raisable beast like the old days. Includes Attackbonus fix. OBSe version will also be included.

- A Fix for the beast fortify spell (increases HTH skill instead of Strength). Also includes OBSE version which directly alters combat damage.
