I think there needs to be a Backdoor to solving the whole astral Realm quest. In other words: a backdoor for people who are really only interested in one item from the astral realm (IE my paladin: only interest is the holy tome). Though at the same time a method that is very long and tedious that would make the astral realm path shorter for other characters.

Possible Backdoor example: Midas can charge the crystal from the outside, but to do this he needs 10 of each type of greater Sigil Essences.

Go to Midas' shop. Place the Sigil Stones into the Assimulator (just in front of the basemant door), and hit "Separate". You will get 5 Lesser Essences depending on what the Sigil Stone is. Then leave them in the Assimulator, now hit "Combine High"...and you will get 1 Greater Essence!

One advice: Save before you attempt any of these, in some instances, you could lose your gems, etc. Read the books.

The wings of an angel take some getting used to. You need to angle your camera in the vertical direction you want to head. To go down, look down and move forward.


Can't seem to do it. Looking Down+Pressing forward still sends me forward.

Edit: Fixed. Just aim it slightly down [not all the way down] and it should work. Thanks, and sorry.

I'm using the newest version of Midas Magic; mainly because I've tried everything else, and nothing seems to work.

I'm running Deadly Reflex (The only possible conflict I can see) no Overhaul Mods, no Texture Modifications, simply that and miscellaneous additions. Ren's, Adonnay's, and the like.

At first, I gathered the materials for making a spell; when I first gathered them, and placed them in the reactor, nothing happened, since the formula was incorrect.

Later, I gathered the CORRECT materials, for Explosive Arrow.

Whenever I cast a spell on the reactor to create the residue, my game freezes and crashes. My entire computer, most of the time. I still haven't figured out why.

In other words, whenever I create a spell, everything goes wrong. I've heard of quests, but I've not seen a single one, or thing added by Midas Magic. Could someone help, please? I really need it.

If you need any other information, say so.

I can even provide my modlist.

It's somewhere above Kvatch. To find a mapmarker of it, check the Brokeback thingy in Midas' shop.

Oblivion crashes every time I get close to the

. I've tried like 5 times. It happens just as I enter the cell I guess is it a problem with the mesh or something?

I loaded up the cell it's in the CS (

a pink mask of a cat head floating above a tail
. Is it supposed to look like this in the CS, or does this mean something's wrong?

Hmm I tried removing all the biped slots of the

in the editor and it still crashed. So is it possible this is a bug in the script or something?

Okay I removed all the scripts except the one on the actor which just gives a journal update on death. And it still crashes as soon as I get close to it. !!!!! I haven't even gotten close enough to see it in game; just crashes as soon as it loads the cell.

... maybe I won't play this quest.

It's because the textures are missing from the .bsa. The Weretiger .nif links to textures\magic\midastiger_o.dds, which was present in the older folder structured version of midas magic but for some reason hasn't made it into the newer .bsa version.

You can either wait for this to be fixed in a new version, or if you have a previous version of midas and nifskope you can re-direct the .nif to the old textures location in the meantime.

I am wondering if anybody else out there is noticing this issue when casting the Meteor Shower spell. I notice that it works just fine but after the spell has completed I keep hearing the sounds and the sky remains reddish. Is this a glitch that needs to be fixed??

Yes, thanks, I found the flyer right on Midas' desk in his shop. I never thought to go over everything in his shop!? It doesn't seem wise to invest in that place, they're pathetic, they have nothing! I already have enough gold nuggets to make every Midas spell available! :dance:


I also have some sort of glitch with the Mighty Fists of Fire/Frost/Shock. I have all 3 of them, problem is, sometimes they do not show their effects on impact/hit, other times they do.
I don't know if the extra damage from the spell is actually always in effect when cast, but visual effects don't always show all the time.

Well, legitimately, they make it easy to get nuggets [if I'm right they get a 5% per certificate chance of finding a gold nugget each day, and are capped at 3 nuggets in the store]. It's also a great way to spend any needless cash you have [if you're at endgame]. Beyond that, not much.

I've been experiencing a similar issue with the latest version as well. Framerate drops through the floor when looking at NPC's. I've never had this issue with any previous version (although the last time I played this mod was at version 960)

I had that same issue at first attempt, you need to use the filled Grand Soul Gem with the higher value (500 as opposed to 200 gold).

Xilver, don't know if you are aware of this, but with the Midas Grand Heat Beam, I can't aim the spell at the target directly. The beam shoots either up or down the crosshair, randomly. So if I wanted to hit something with it, I would have to adjust accordingly from the first shot, and kinda guess where it's gonna hit! Is there a fix for this? I love this spell, it's cool like a lazer beam!!! Thanks!

I love the mod, but I do have a (perhaps not so) small suggestion.

Would it be possible to get different icons for the spells? It gets kinda confusing when my spellbook is full of those purple portal icons.

And, yes, I have some idea of what I'm asking, but I'm not suggesting that someine make custom icons for each spell (although that would be cool), but just something like add the snowflake icon to the ice-based spells, etc.

Also, out of curiosity, does anyone else think that this would be nice, or am I just an oddball? :P

A suggestion: could you make "Midas for Dimmies" sold by Midas instead of having to steal it? Also, could you make a quest that allows you to return Midas's stuff?

I'm aware of the problem. It's been fixed in testing, just haven't had time to release yet.

This is likely a result of a conflict with Deadly Reflexes. This was a bug with an older version. Update your Deadly Reflexes install.

Do you have the problem when you start new games or just existing saves. There is an animation bug that can creep up. Wrye Bash can help fix it http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Wrye_Bash

Hmm...the only other beam spell I can think of off-hand right now, is the Death Stream.
That seems fine, it goes where I aim at, and it's cool too coz' as the enemy moves around, I can direct the stream to follow the target!

Okay, I'm back to edit this earlier post...I've been playing and just discovered a major glitch with my Mega Fire Ball spell. When I first tried it out right after acquiring it, it was working fine. I tried to use it again at another time, and the ball of fire stays suspended in mid air right in front of me! It doesn't move and it doesn't explode, if I run into it, it shoots forward and stops right at the first thing it hits but does not explode. So if I keep casting one right after another, I can actually created balls of fire all around me, supended in mid air!

I tried to go back to a saved game right before I made the spell, then I remade the spell, I got the same glitch right away. I tried restarting the game, traveling to another place, nothing worked to fix it. Any idea what's wrong, Xilver??

This seems to happen when the game is running a lot of scripts. It happens from time to time, but usually wating a couple of minutes, then reloading the cell [fast traveling into a city, or such] fixes it. If that doesn't work, wait for Xilver's official word.

What about a spell that can make a temporary decapitation wire? Or just tripwire? uses 1 gold nugget, 1 Daedra silk(maybe more for the decapitation?) and something else. Only lasts for 30 seconds. physical damage.

Hello!

first of all, great mod, truly master work!
but i have a same problem as ZeroDivide, my game crashes every time i cast a spell on the Reactor,even if its empty!
ive temply disapled Deadly Reflex ,its fully working now.
if i have to choose between MM and DR ,id choose MM .
but id like to use both, so is there a solution? im sure thet Deadly Reflex causes this.
than ive reinstalled DR->fail!
reinstalled the entire game->fail!
disabled DR-> MM works :thumbsup: ,no DR :( ->no blood ,gore and half people-> :sad: .
i hope you can help
