Midas Magic - Spells for Skyrim : xilverbulet in game ads

Post » Sat Apr 25, 2015 5:45 pm

Xivelrbulet creator of the Midas Magic - Spells for Skyrim mod is now using in game pop up ads in his free version of his mod so a ad has a % of chance to pop up when you cast one of his spell prompting you to buy is paid for version

how low can you go?

@Mister Nobody. Yes, if you have the Paid Mod, unsubscribe from this one. It has all the content of this and removes the "please buy the paid mod" annoyance. And yes, the Pop-ups are too annoying. Right now, they're set to 4% chance of displaying per cast of the 5 most awesome new spells. I'll reduce that hopefully this weekend to once per game load.

Someone really needs to make a blacklist so free moders can use it to stop the further execution of their mod if a blacklisted mod is detected.

And here I thought annoying pop-up ads is only for corporations trying to mimick Clash of Clans?

Good job Valve, now EA is looking like a goddamned Saint

I understand that, it's just that it wouldn't happen if Valve didn't start this whole mess.

I never liked that mod anyway, Apocalypse is better :hehe:

But i take this as my cue to return to the older games for now. Fallout 3 and New Vegas have load orders ready to go, maybe i should set up Oblivion, or finally take up Morrowind and see what all the fuss is about?

And I have Divinity and Wasteland 2 and Pillars of Eternity in the middle of a playtrough, re-play Dragonfall, tons of old games on discs, dozens of classic Doom Megawads to playtrough.... Might as well say screw you to Bethesda and Valve all together

On the other hand, some people are showing their true face now... A good for a bad, at least.

Well, [censored] you, xilver! In-game advertizements that pop up randomly after you cast a spell? That's just so freaking low! Just... WTF?!?!?!

This makes me think about street art. Street art have become mainstream now that street artists paint on canvas and their art displays in galleries and they no longer have to flee the police for "vandalising" walls... Except that in the present situation, now that modding has acquired some sort of "legitimacy" through making money, "true" modders will have to go underground.

I don't care for Midas Magic anyhow. Haven't used his mod for years and I certainly have no interest in supporting the system Valve/Bethesda have currently put in place.

Not at all.

He's just the first to take that step. A step closer to the mobile app stores.

Apocalypse and Forbidden Magic are pretty much the only good ones to use.
