I got my text around noon Sunday but I called my gamestop on Thursday just to make sure they were having the midnight release. I seriously can't wait until Midnight Tuesday :flamethrower:

Technically, midnight (12:00 AM) would be Tuesday.

By phone call you mean text message? Who actually uses their phone to talk now a days, pfft.

Get out of here with your fancy logic. There's no place for it here.

Too blinded by anticipation to think clearly.

i live in Orlando. I have F:NV pre-loaded into steam.

My local Game Spot is having a midnight release party.

If I buy the hardcopy from GameSpot, can i play and load right at midnight?

Would I still have to wait until 3am EDT for the steam version to unlock?

I have a case of Red Bull standing by for my own 'unofficial' quest "The 1st 24 Hours" - 24 hours of gameplay between midnight monday to midnight tuesday.

This three hour delay is messing with my plans.

The reason Gamestop has everyone come in before midnight is so that you can pay off your game and be prepared to just grab your copy and go at 12:00. Even if you've paid in full, you still have to be rung out again -- this tells our computer system that you will be walking out with your game at midnight and we can keep our inventory straight. If we didn't ring you out, we'd have no idea how many people picked up their games or who in particular still has yet to.

Midnight releases svck when we have to work one for a game that just draws a rude/drunk/'bro' kind of crowd, but games like Fallout with a great fanbase usually turn out to be lots of fun. I'm going to try to do a trivia game with prizes, and I'll bring cookies for everyone.

Please be courteous to your associate and get in before midnight -- we want to go home and play our copy of Fallout too!!

I don't even think the GameStop i use can do midnight releases since its part of the mall and not it's own building, so they would need to have the doors to the mall unlocked and have mall security on the premises.

So its easier for them to just have people pick their stuff up during normal mall hours instead of having a special release.

No, but sadly, I didn't pre-order the game because my mom doesn't want to spend $60.00 on a game. Have to wait until christmas for the game. :(

um buy it yourself instead of your mum then?

For the person worried about paying at 11:50. They usually ring out up until around 12. If you come after that you have to wait for the line to clear out. But I've gotten my stamp as late as 11:45 and know they will ring out until they start handing out games.

I'm assuming Steam is not required if you're just picking up a retail copy?

If it's for PC, then Steam activation is required for all copies, digital or retail.

Ok, so for once I have the opportunity to go to a midnight release for a game so I thought, "Fallout should be the object of my desires for my first midnight release!!" The only problem is that I don't know of any stores doing one. Anyone know if the GAME stores across the United Kingdom will be swinging open their doors at midnight to receive the might of British Fallout fans?

Wow really? Is there any particular reason for this?

Anti-piracy. Registering a game on Steam locks it to that account, preventing friends from sharing the game around.
