Midwestern Brotherhood may make an appearance?

I think it's important to note that something as simple as an inverted symbol COULD be an oversight and nothing more, but airships are definitely something more readily associated with the Midwestern branch, since it's absolutely confirmed they used them, which isn't the case for the Eastern branch as I recall.

What's strange though is the name Prydwen then, as that seems like a reference to the Eastern branch, no? (Lyon's Pride)

From the look of it, the Capital Wasteland Brotherhood's http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/9/98/BoS_flag.png/revision/latest?cb=20130625222903 also has the inverted insignia.

Interesting.

But the gallery's text is screwing up left and right towards the end. "The large cog is on the right" for the traditional logo is incorrect.

Where is this flag from? Never saw it in FO3.

You get the point. ;P

Point is this logo is inverted, something that's only been done for the Midwest chapter. The Eastern chapter does indeed have the original.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if this were an oversight. If it's not though, I'm conflicted on the idea. The Midwestern chapter is a morally grey faction, which I welcome....but why the hell would they be in Boston? Direct pursuit of the Institute, perhaps? I just mean, they're making a dramatic jump past Pittsburgh, DC and tons of other areas, which tactically, is suicidal.

I'm not sure where the actual flag image originated from, but you can see a http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/File:FO3BoSflag.png of the flag at the Citadel, and the image can be seen as on certain products available and formerly available at the Bethesda Store, such as http://store.gamesas.com/brotherhood-of-steel-hoodie.html.

On the other hand, the formerly available http://store.gamesas.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/a/r/xart-litho-fo-warneverchanges-full.jpg.pagespeed.ic.MDywHNmOhA.webp has it on the left.

Looking at http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_DN3bYkkYk0/TzVGV1dCl0I/AAAAAAAABNw/BjaYtPCBFY4/s500/232px-Fallout_3_T45d_Power_Armor.png picture, it's hard to tell, but look like it's using the traditional insignia on the actual power armor.

Edit: http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/fallout/images/3/3d/Fo3_Paladin.png/revision/latest?cb=20090825091400 a better one.

It's also a traditional one in the courtyard and on their banners.

Really, this is 50/50. Whether on purpose or accident, Bethesda kinda made their insignia similar. The Midwestern one has the blue color to it, but so does the Eastern one on the power armor, so....

And the ship is named after king Arthur's ship... So it's more likely the Eastern brotherhood.

Nearly all brotherhood symbols in Washington have the inverted symbol

I noticed the switched Brotherhood insignia at one point as well thinking it was the Midwestern Brotherhood, but I didn't think it was too big of a deal to really prove it. It's more than likely Lyon's Pride, but one can only hope.

Not necessarily. There were the random encounters in 1 and 2 which were Arthurian, and in Tactics as AP pointed out, there was a Lancelot and Grail Squad.

I'm not a fan of the constant Arthurian references...but whatevs. It like telling the same joke 5 times. Gets stale.

Anyways, if MWBOS went to Boston through Canada, NY, they would have bypassed DC, Pitt, etc, and if they flying...well that prolly the way to go, if say coming from Chicago. I've made similar journey myself.

It's possible. Remember how the Midwest BOS used special armor that came from seemingly nowhere? Maybe that will get retconned into the XO armor.

I hope it is. Only thing I fear is if the game is exactly 200 years after the war, so the events in 4 go on same time as 3. While getting lore on MWBOS would be great, I'd like to get some from 3.

But, I'd much rather MWBOS than CWBOS, and I'd actually kinda prefer both to some degree (for lore).

I've said it before when people were talking about Chicago as a possible location and I'll say it again Bethesda has zero interest in the Midwestern Brotherhood or Fallout Tactics. Any Brotherhood who show up in Fallout 4 will be from the Capital Wasteland because Bethesda did not set that up just to immediately drop it in favor of a faction from a spinoff most of their fans know nothing about it. The airship clearly has something to do with Arthur Maxson because its name is Welsh which means that if I bothered to look that up on Google it will almost certainly be something from Arthurian legend.

Its entirely possible they got the idea of airships from Tactics just like they got the Enclave armor in Fallout 3 from Tactics but does not mean there is an in universe connection.

Why would Bethesda use an entity, the MW BoS, that they did not use in FO3 or make themselves?

I see Bethesda making their own lore and canon from here on out. They started FO3 with the basic premise of the original fallouts, namely vaults, FEV, super mutants, deathclaws, radscorpions, ghouls, BoS and the Enclave. Now in FO4 they are using the Institute which is something that they made up in FO3 as well as androids.

I don't think you will ever see the MWBoS in another fallout game, especially one made by Bethesda.

The Arthurian name on the airship makes me believe that it is the DC BoS led by King Arthur Maxson.

Zero interest even though they were mentioned in 3 and more than likely again in NV...

Seems like you and Tag should be flipping out that BoS, whichever one, has made airships. Again.

One mention. Junktown gets more of a nod than Tactics yet I doubt anyone suspects we will see Junktown in Fallout 4 or ever.

Are you kidding? This is a game that so far has rockets on the USS Constitution, jetpack power armor, laser muskets and people dressed up like minutemen and redcoats. More airship stupidity is the least ridiculous thing in this setting by far.

BGS used a ton in 3 they sure didn't create themselves. It is their franchise, and they acknowledged the existence of MWBOS in the game they made.

It would be hilarious if Bethesda took a page from Hellsing and just randomly made the main enemy the Nazis.

"Well, duh, who else flies around in giant airships? Stupid idiot."

Seeing how Junk town is a place, that is kind of a no brainer.

I thought of a possible reason why MWBOS would go to Boston. Maybe they found out the Calculator and or the robots from FOT were made in Boston/MIT, seeing how I'm pretty sure they not Robco or General Atomics or whatever.

Replace Junktown with NCR if it makes you feel better. They got a Fallout 3 mention too.

That could be for uniformity and the cause of the misunderstand maybe. In the military collar devices like the eagle with chevron in the navy both face forward. Could be the same concept for the BoS symbol.

Well there have been people who have thought some people from NCR area would appear in the game. I don't think there should be, and MWBOS makes a lot more sense than NCR or Legion for that matter.

I'd rather have the Midwestern Brotherhood make an appearance than the Enclave. They shouldn't have been in Fallout 3 in the first place. Or the super mutants, but that's a whole different ballpark.
