Midwestern Brothers- OOC Thread 2

Post » Sat May 17, 2014 8:29 pm

Just a second OOC since the first interest thread has gotten filled up.

My last post:

Quote

A good many of the Midwestern Brotherhood members would have grown up in wasteland towns and the like. Since the Brotherhood conscripts the "best and brightest". Traven for instance, was raised in a wasteland town as well.

Its the difference between not being in the Midwestern Brotherhood and being within the fold of the Brotherhood however. Especially to religious zealots like the Inquisitors. Since the town isn't Brotherhood citizens, their lives are considered expedient. So basically, once you are in the Brotherhood you are in. Or if you are in a town under their control, they also consider you one of their own.

That said, no-one has to be mean to anyone in the town. Be as polite or as bad as you like. I thought Ranger's post in the store, for instance, was really good. Definitely showed alot of character.

It'll be interesting to see Redfield's continued take if someone gets rough with the townfolk.

Not sure when I want to reveal that actually, since I'd like for everyone to get more time to do their thing in the town before that tid-bit is revealed to the group.

As a side note, I'm having a blast RPing these old-western rural types. The Sheriff's response to Truax is going to be interesting to write. I'll respond later this afternoon to everyone.

Heh, I have to admit, I'm really enjoying writing an Inquisitor as well. I wasn't going to have Truax say anything, but I figured that if he heard the sheriff tell Hale not to cause any trouble, he wouldn't let something like that slide :P

Maeror's response was dead on by the way Magus. Just what I was hoping for. Great work!

I aim to please with my writing I guess, I look forward to seeing exactly what everyone else in the scene will do next.

On the note of enjoying the characters, I'm really enjoying RPing Maeror. and finally, If Travern's going to be doing some proper Inquisition work, well I can't wait for that to put it simply.

Glad people are enjoying themselves. I was a bit concerned at first that people wouldn't be interested in the RP. :D

I think you are doing great personally. Just how I was expecting a humanoid robot to act. I think his deep seeded hatred of humans is a nice touch as well.

Traven might make use of 88s..uncaring robotic nature in the future.

Maybe not in this town so much.

....but in the next town we go to....well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnFyB8abbKE#t=0m08s

Redfield would definitely try to step in, especially if they weren't being threatening. But, he would understand that "gentle persuasion" is sometimes necessary, especially with the Inquisitors. After all, he did take the Brotherhood's equivalent to the Hippocratic Oath: do no harm, unless they shoot at you and yours, which is when you fill them full of holes, and then patch up what's left.

I'm fine with Doc Roy not revealing the juicy bits. I'm trying show some of Redfield's attitudes and character, and maybe finding places to interject some intrigue and drama into the story.

EDIT: Is it ok to say that as far as the MBOS knows, the plague spreads through body fluids (i.e. bites, blood-blood contact) only, and is not airborne?

Thank you, that means a lot coming from you, both as the GM and a great RPer

Yeah thats fine. I was originally going to make it airborne, but I think if that was the case it would be far more deadly. Too infectious perhaps.

Too infectious indeed. Because if it was airborne, that little jaunt outside Northwood's wall would have probably infected most of us. I'm just getting my head around some specifics, so I can convince the mayor to get it done. But, since Traven's temporarily annexing the town in the name of the Midwestern Brotherhood, perhaps I should bring this up to him or Hale?

EDIT: The plague could always mutate later on. Perhaps a date with a GECK?

No I'd still bring it up to the Mayor. Especially if Redfield genuinely wants to help the town long term. The Midwest group isn't going to be staying in the town for very long, and while you could try Hale, Traven probably wouldn't do much about the town's hygiene issues. Its not very high on his priority list.

Edit: Also disturbing, the town wouldn't be revolting just yet. Getting a little ahead of us there. :D

Hey, if you'd like, talk to Hale about it in just a bit. You'll like his answer as he'll do something about the hygiene.

And Andro, you just got the Sheriff walked into a world of trouble.

Yeah, might want to talk to Hale. The Mayor is going to be a bit...indisposed.

Oh lordy.

Eager to read what Hale does. And Truax and Maeror for that matter.

It won't be pleasant for him I can tell you that :P. I'm having Truax focus more on the barkeep though. It's OK if she "accidentally" dies during an interrogation right? Or would you prefer her just being crippled?

He has some ideas for cleanliness.

Oh yes indeed.

I think you may find it... firm.

Yeah, I'll allow that (being killed I mean). Do as you please.

Perks of being an Inquisitor and what not.

Oh good! Truax is going to have quite a bit of fun then. Pointing the shotgun at the group wasn't such a good idea for her :P

Sorry guys, we'll have to wait for a Hale post until maybe noon tomorrow. But then we can see where this leads.

Andro, is MW still open for the Medic? I was almost finished with her CS until I had to focus on my END sheet. If so, I will finish it tomorrow.

Not sure what you want to do with the bartender Andro, so I left it open for her reply. Not sure if she'll have any useful information, but I figured it'd be fun to interrogate someone finally :P

No, Redfield (the NPC medic I made) has been filled by ewok. And I don't think the squad needs another. In fact, I think we have enough scribes to be honest (two is good I think).

Would you be interested in being a Paladin or a Knight however? We could use one more at least. They are pretty much all NPC's at this point except for OLDRPG.

Got a reply up.

She may or may not have anything useful. So interrogate away.

Well, since the town seems to be getting up-in-arms, Andro, should Truax just go ahead and kill the bartender? Don't want to hold anything you had planned back.

Up to you really. It depends on whether or not you think Truax would continue the interrogation or if he feels he should focus on what's going on now etc.

Although me and Ranger have been talking, and while your posts are great and well detailed, we were a bit concerned that the interrogation might be on the verge of being slightly too graphic for the forums. Or that it might head in that direction (I do think its fine right now).

Just concerned about the apparent recent mod crack-down is all. And Truax was really going to town. :D I probably shouldn't have made the interrogation victim a young woman, since I think that sort of made it stand out. I'll have to keep that in mind next time. Might be sort of a touchy thing.

Frankly, I don't have a ton of RP experience, so if anyone with more RP's under their belt has any insight as to what the general "line" to be crossed is with regards to violence in RPs that'd be swell. Wanting to make sure Midwestern Brothers doesn't become the victim of mod attention. While at the same time letting people write violent stuff etc.

I totally understand. Ranger talked to me about it a bit ago, and I have to agree. I'd hate to cause the RP to get shut down for that, so I'll just go ahead and finish it.

Actually, just to play it on the safe side, I'll have Truax just leave her in the room without further interaction between the two. I imagine he'd be more concerned about the forming mo outside than anything she would have to say anyway.

As long as there are no complaints we should be fine. It also depends on how the violence is written out. You can torture, but going into too much detail might alert the mods
