Do mig quest mods, or too many mods in your game cause lag?

***Do big quest mods, or too many mods in your game cause lag?***

I'm asking cause my game doesn't lad when FCOM in fully installed and runs great however once I put in all of my other mods there is lag. If I cut back in would be smoother. Which mods generally strain cpu and/or gpu, and does streamline help at all if you use Oblivion Stutter Remover?

Ones that add NPCs, graphics mods, high detail locations, heavy in lighting, things like that, will generally cause lagging.

Does Better Water V2 Cause lag? How about Crowded roads? or Heart of the Dead and Lost Spires? Tears of the fiend?

Oh and does streamline still help even if you have Oblivion Stutter Remover?

Crowded roads will slow the game down a bit because of all the new NPCs. The rest shouldn't be too bad.

Personally, I don't use Streamline anymore, as OSR serves me just fine, but it still has its uses. You generally don't want to use Streamline's FPS smoother alongside OSR manager, though. Bad things can happen.

That depends on just how crowded you want your roads to be.

I would recommend being frugal with those NPC mods, though. Too many NPCs will murder your framerates.

In already-intensive areas, I find that I can lose 20-40% of my framerate when an NPC approaches me. Although I haven't used CM, I would assume that having a companion who always stays near you would make such an effect semi-permanent.

In a heavily-modded game, the standard autosave feature can cause crashes. Properly configured, Streamline's Streamsave feature serves a similar function with much less risk of crashes. Streampurge can also be very useful to keep you from going over the RAM limit, especially if on a 32 bit OS; once again, proper configuration is required. The other Streamline features should usually be disabled when running alongside OSR.
