Im considering leaving the forums for good. I cant seem to finish any Fan-fic, my writing skills are awful, and not many people are happy with what I did to the forums.

Maybe you should get some writing skills to increase your writing technique, and maybe people will enjoy your FanFic's more. One thing I cant stand, and probably most people on these forums. Is people who have pity for themselfs and are torn between what THEY think (Which should always be) or the way Others think of them (Which you should'nt care what others think, if you enjoy it). So stop feeling bad for yourself, and keep up the writing you [censored].

I agree with Strangelove and Redrock. I think you should quit feeling bad for yourself, and quit thinking about what others think of you, and just do what you enjoy, which seems to be FanFic's.

I think your problem is your writing skills. It seems to turn most people off of your stories.

You seem to have no problem with getting ideas for stories but when you put them into words.... thats another story. :P

As I've said many a times before......write for yourself and no one else. Because in the end it is YOU who will be your number one fan.

...You don't have to have a manual. Just post your stuff and we'll help you out.

I'll tell you what....PM me when you have your next whatever posted, and I'll be sure to look at it. If doubting your skills is what's wrong, don't fret. Nobody is perfect.

What the hell! you asked us for advice and our opinions about what you should do. We try and help you out, but still you toss our advice and opinions to the ground. I officially change my vote to you leaving.

Implementing suggestions is harder said than done.

The problem with a manual is it does not give feed back.

Black Hand, you can do it yourself. You don't need help with writing. I learned everything I know ON MY OWN simply by reading others works and making note of how they structured sentences, and described things, and performed dialogue. Then I implemented the same techniques. I'm 14, and I've won two Writing contests in my town, without taking any kind of creative writing course or getting help. You can do the same too, if you just try hard enough. You're not going to get quality help by begging on some forum.

I can attest to the truth of Bebopmagnum's words.

Honestly, guess what? In the fifth grade, I was tutored in my vocabulary. Not until the 8th grade did I show any true writing ability, and then it was in an essay about chess. However, when I joined these forums and began writing both fanfics, and roleplay posting, my writing improved, and I humbly admit I am quite good now.

All it was was practice. Practice, practice, practice, and the best way to learn to write is to read other's works as well. Read other authors, look at their style of writing, and incorporate it into your own, give it a test run and see if you like that style. In order to improve the quality of your work, you have to bust some ass and do some work.

And I refuse to vote in that poll. It is far too depressive and self-flogging. None of the options are my actual opinion.

And make sure you write in a style that feels natural and you don't have to force the ideas down.

I voted for number 2. I know I used to feel like that myself, but I stuck with it and got better. I don't consider myself a particularly talented writer, but I think that RPing and a little bit of unpublished fanfic writing has done wonders for both my skill and my confidence. Now if only I could get better at art..

Anyway, point is you're being too hard on yourself. A quick two-minute glance at Lands of Madness tells me that you certainly have writing talent. I'd ease up a little on the exclamation points and caps and the dialog's a little clustered together -although I admit dialog is a tad tricky to make look right; I often stare at my own work for twenty minutes after it's done and curse because of this- but other than that it's fine work. Just keep trying and you'll get better. Trust me. ^_^

Another thing is, if you haven't tried it before, hop into an RP or two. Making characters and doing writing almost everyday in the RPs you're in was the biggest help for me for improving. They're different in many ways, but fiction and roleplaying are still writing, and as they say, practice makes perfect.

I voted on none of them.

People are abrasive, just write, post, read the criticism, and tell the grammar Nazi's to go to hell.

My writing svcked SO-BAD before I wrote some fan-fictions on this forum, was berated, left, wrote more without posting, came back wrote some, was met with no interest, and then emailed my friends the stories instead. Now I get 'ews' and 'odds'. I'd post some of it here but I no longer write TES Fan-Fics.

EDIT: What I mean is, write. And if you can't/don't want to? Go do something else. Who cares? No one but you. It's alright.

Pretty much what he said.

Plus, if you're having trouble describing something, or one of your characters are performing an action but it sounds very blase or just plain and boring, research what they are doing, be it as insignificant about the way theyre walking to the way they talk and fight, research, watch videos then describe whats happenning in as much detail as humanly possible. Its about self improvement, people can only give advice, they cannot tell you exactly what you need to do, because everybody is different.
