Militia hat in Libertalia?

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 4:46 am

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Militia_hat, there's supposed to be a deceased Minuteman in Libertalia with a Militia hat. Anyone who knows where he/she is? I've run around the place three times now w/o finding it.

If I understand the terminals correctly the leader of Libertalia used to be a minuteman and eventually turned to raiding to be able to feed his men. It is less clear if that leader is the same synth you capture for the institute or if he was replaced by the synth.

Not sure either. I honestly think the Wiki is wrong on that one as I must have checked every nook and cranny by now. Anyway, found a dead Minutemen with a Militia hat a couple of hours later in a different location, so Cait could get her hat.

Neither. The terminal shows the name and logs of the original leader. Gabriel attempted to delete his logs, but couldn't work a computer. No reason for the synth to randomly change his name.

EDIT: Well I guess he did replace him, but not in the Institute style of replacement.

There's a floating platform in the center of the ring of boats that has a heap of bodies plus a gun turret on it. Nearly all of the bodies are traders, but I think one is that of a Minuteman.

It's been a while so I can't help you. If all you're looking for is the hat there is often one on a corpse near the house next to the church next to the Concord Museum. There might also be one in Super Duper Mart in a locked room or in the garage in the basemant.

But the best way to get minutemen hats and uniforms is to build a clothing store. They ALWAYS sell hats and uniforms, so every time I would come back I would by the ones in stock and eventually all the guards in my settlements were properly dressed. Helps to make your Commonwealth empire more professional and credible.

EDIT: A "boss" in Quincy also wears one.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I found one in Concord during my first two playthroughs, but not this time, so I guess it might be random. I'll keep Quincy in mind - it's a fun place to do as well.

Nope, i checked there. Might be random there as well perhaps.

In that case, hunt around in Lexington and Quincy. Preston says he lost Minutemen in those places; all you have to do is hunt around and you will find their bodies sooner or later. (I did.)

The Fallout wiki is pretty good in my experience, but it's not 100% accurate. It's been quite a while since I've been through the Libertalia, so I don't really remember.

The Fallout wiki on a few occasions describes random loot as if it were a set spawn.

Spent 20 minutes hunting for a Fusion Core once that the wiki thought was a set spawn to turn out to have been a leveled random spawn and I had already looted the .38 ammo that had spawned in its place.

I've found this to be the case fairly often. I'm on a second play through and on a quest to get all of the magazines this time through, so I'm using the Wiki a fair amount. I usually clear a building and search it once, then check the Wiki to see if there's anything I missed. They get some of it wrong. They have at least corrected most of the info about power armor spawns though. For a while there were a bunch of areas listed as "contains T-60 torso, helmet, and left leg" or something similar rather than "contains leveled partial suit" as the case actually is. I've found that the wiki info on the magazines and bobbleheads is pretty accurate though.

The only set spawns in the game I've seen are:

T-45 (full) in Concord

T-51 (full) on barge near Pickman's

T-51 (full) on barge near Nahant

Clint's T-45/51 mixed suit in Quincy (which the generic commander gets too if you kill Clint)

- Even the suit on 35 Court is level dependent, though it's always a full suit. The only other full suit I can think of is the one in the shipping container behind where the Sentrybot spawns at the National Guard Training Yard. I'm not counting the T-60 that the BoS gives you for joining.

Then the things like (this list is not limited to these things -- this is just the top of my head) --

The Castle's Armory (always the same gear on the tables/shelves)

Fort Hagen's Armory (same aid gear and weapons)

FCs in generators

The equipment in Vault 111

The dead Minuteman and his rifle on the steps of the History Museum in Concord

Gear on the shelves of vendors (Like Kleo and Arturo)

Mini-Nukes that sit in the open (not in containers)

Almost anything inside a container is going to be random and level dependent. Laying in the open is the more likely scripted spawn, but that's not guaranteed as the stuff laying around can certainly be randomized. PA Frames are basically considered containers for the purposes of random gear generation.

Yes, there are a handful of set power armor spawns throughout the game. I can't think of any aside from the ones that you listed. I often get exasperated in discussions about this. I'm in a bunch of Fallout groups on Facebook, and I've seen so many discussions about how 35 Court is a level guaranteed full suit of X-01. It's not. It's a guaranteed full suit regardless of level, but it's not guaranteed to be X-01 at any level. It's still randomized according to statistical probability based on your level, luck, and a number of factors. I've seen people even go to the trouble of actually creating maps with the "guaranteed X-01 locations" marked on them. The only absolutely guaranteed piece of X-01 in the entire game is the helmet on the Prydwen though. That's it. I've had people get seriously upset and argumentative with me when I point out that these suits aren't guaranteed. They assume that since they've found it there twice in two play throughs that it must just be 100% guaranteed. I even tell them how to verify this through the console and they don't believe me. You can click on the suit (while still at the spawn point) and enter 'recycleactor' and the suit will respawn according to your level. At high levels suits will typically alternate between X-01 and T-60, and sometimes still T-51 or T-45. I've gotten into the habit of checking this in my current play through just to find out what suits are fixed.

There are a handful of other guaranteed full suit locations though. The South Boston Military Checkpoint has a leveled full suit. I'm pretty sure the suit in the train car by Ten Pines Bluff is a leveled full suit.

I forgot about the South Boston checkpoint suit. That is also a full, but leveled, suit. You are absolutely correct there.

The Tenpines traincar suit was just legs and torso in my latest playthrough, so while there's apparently a chance of all six pieces appearing, it's not guaranteed.

Actually after thinking about it a bit more, I don't think I ever did find a full suit there. I'm thinking of somewhere else, but I'm not sure where.

Thank you for this. On my current character I waited too long to get the one in the container behind the National Guard Training Centre and when I got there it was a T-60. I like to have one suit of each type, just because... I'll look for this one later.
