Mind Control

What if there was a spell that let you mind control other beings, or dead bodies. Yay or nay? Also, instead of just saying/voting no, can you give us a reason why?

Dominate Humanoid/Creature.

Complete control like going into the person, could probably be a knew spell.

You can't mind control dead things, that goes under necromancy, which hopefully is also in.

There should be a necromancy guild, you start off in the mages guild, but it then splits into 2 seperate guilds because they found out the leader was a necromancer, and you can choose to follow him. or something like that.

Instead of every summoning spell creating a *poof* magic cloud out of nothing, I'd love to see a few re-animate undead type spells that you cast on dead creatures or corpses to animate zombies and skeletons.

In general it would be great if there are a few spells that require certain materials (such as dead bodies, soul gems or geomancy), only in specific environment conditions, or that have a special new effect if they are cast in a chain after another spell.

The other games had mind control, it was called "command humanoid", and "command creature".
Also... controlling dead bodies = necromancy. Skyrim should have a reanimation spells to raise dead.

Edit: added something

Not necessarily, you can summon undead and not control them.

Sure... but if you control them it's still necromancy

I would like some more in-depth necromancy but no mind control. Dominate humanoid/creature is enough. And who knows, with the new AI system they might actually fight more instead of standing around rarely attacking and sometimes not attacking at all.

That cheesy old Jason and the Argonauts film still gives me a nostalgic thrill when the skeletons come out of the ground, so yeah. Deadra should appear out of thin air , summoned from another plane, but undead should be raised.

I would like a form of compulsion that controls another NPC to attack, defend, farm, cook, or hold my equipment.

It's called slavery and it really doesn't work unless you are there to loom over them with the threat of violence and pain. And if you have to be there threatening them anyways you might as well do it yourself <_<

Only by controlling them and making them fight for me, not actually being them.

It would make it interesting if you have to either find a higher level dead creature or kill one yourself if you want to to make your summoned undead powerful.

It would be cool, we could play as them or ditch them by pressing a button and control ourselves with them following us and fighting for us.

Is necromancy banned from the College of Whispers or Synod?

I think I read somewhere that the Synod was against necromancy, and the the College of Whispers accept it.
I'm not sure where i read that though, my source might have been wrong. :P

Necromancy/mind control would make magic based characters much more appealing to me. I say yes.

All for Necromancy, no point having graveyards in the game if you're not going to lurk, but if you mean mind control as in you now control the subject with the normal game controls then no. Personally I'd hate to spend ages on the face gen ( still creating a character that looks like a muppet with leprosy no doubt ) only to get a spell that allows me to play as someone even uglier for a time.
