[req/wip] Mini-flamer

Post » Sat Oct 30, 2010 12:54 pm

I seem to get in the habit of making a thread about one specific item and then later expanding upon it, see my MP5K thread where it turned into creating 2 other guns as well.

Well I'm going to repeat that.

I've thought of adding two additional weapons to this mod. The first is a UNIQUE shotgun, as in there is only one in the wasteland (unless added by the console of course lol). I want to add a type of shotgun with a real wasteland feel to it. Duct tape, looks really worn, little unique things about it, etc. The catch with this shotgun, aside from the great amount of damage it can do, is the fact that it can use special ammo designated for that shotgun. I may or may not expand the extra ammo type capability to other shotguns, too many conflicts especially with FOOK and such. Anyway, I had an idea for Incendiary Shot, and then a Slug-type shot that's good against armored targets like robots and power armor but without the spread. If it's at all possible too, exploding shot might be fun as well. As far as what the shotgun looks like, I've been kinda torn. I don't want to go with too modern of a shotgun like the AA-12. A striker though... maybe. Something along the lines of that but with an original feel. It has to truly look like a unique weapon that only the Lone Wanderer (or his followers, or wall in his/her house) can have. I think "The Waster" is an appropriate name.

The second, is something I mentioned a little time ago. I was (and did create part of) a http://www.spareammo.com/posters/mateba_357_magnum_440x255.jpg However I have considered that I want to once again make a truly unique gun. I haven't played a lot of the old Fallout games, only a good bit of Fallout 2. But I've read that in the first game, the .223 pistol looks Deckard's gun from Blade Runner, a movie I love. So I'm trying to come up with a design that kinda combines the two, and they are kind of similar. I was thinking of "The Matador" as it's name and have it use 5.56 rounds as ammo.

So that's it. Two "unique" weapons will be added to the game. The mini-flamer may or may not be unique, I'm undecided on that. It would be cool to see some raiders using that thing so I don't think so.

Thoughts, comments?

Well it's probably too modern but what about the M1014? It only has a four shot clip and looks awesome.
Also the model 1887's are lever action (so good for anim.s) and old style.

imo: The striker is a lot like the combat shotgun in the game already. But once again, it is your mod so your choice.

Also, here's some pics for inspiration. :)

I know it's like the current combat shotgun in a way, but I do want to try to have a high capacity magazine for this shotgun along with devastating power. By the end it certainly won't look like the combat shotgun. Thanks for the reference pics too.

It is, I've just been really busy with non-modding related stuff lately. I've got some things to do for my ACR too but I do plan to finish the Mini Flamer.

Bumping.

I finished unwrapping the low-poly model of the mini-flamer and I'm in the process now of learning how to bake the normal maps from the high-poly model. I would post pictures but there's nothing really worthy to see yet. Once I get the normal maps finished I'll post some pics of the low poly model. As for those other ideas I'm just going to hold off and take one thing at a time. If I overload myself with ideas I'll never get anything done lol.

Looks great. A small hand held flamer was actually on my mind recently. Awaiting the final result.
