Mini Games

Post » Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:54 am

I'm sure there isn't mini games like this in the game. But would you guys approve of Jousting in Skyrim? Even though It won't be in the game obviously, what would you guys think if it was?
List mini games like jousting that you would want in Skyrim.

I'm fine with any mini-game that doesn't remind me I'm playing a video game. I like anything that connects me to the game world. Lockpicking felt plausible to me in Oblivion; Persuasion didn't.

The odd chessboard in the corner of a tavern would be nice (someone else suggested this in another thread and I've really latched on to the idea lol).

I would preffer if jousting and brawling would be made part of the main game, not a minigame. I mean without changing the scene or the game rules (of course in the brawl case, it could require non letal combat being an option and NPCs chosing it when needed, which could be fantastic on its own).

I don't mean like mini games, but games within the game jousting etc. Board games would also be nice like chess and stuff like that would be pretty cool.

Jousting is a Europe-based "ye olde fantasy" thing. Middle Ages stuff is likely to not be found in Skyrim; the land has heavy Nordic themes.

I like JagarTharn12's idea of drinking games. That might be pretty funny, actually: win money, but you might seriously mess up your stats for a bit. A chess or similar game is also an idea I'd support.

Im not one for having mini-games (cards, gambling games) in the TES series just for the sake of having them in there. But something like Jousting would be cool as it fits...similar to having Arena fighting in Oblivion. Finally someone posted an original idea that wasn't about bringing something back from Morrowind, lol.

I have wanted jousting ever since Oblivion came out. TES is a Medieval style game and Jousting was a big part in that era. And it is something different then the Arena.

I never had the chance to play Morrowind. So I don't know much about the features it has.

And I don't mean mini games like Lock picking. I'm talking about miscellaneous games within the game etc jousting or chess.

maybe a little minigame for disarming more complex traps? (different game per trap)

although a simple skill check might work just as well

EDIT: oh, sorry read it wrong...

Jousting is a sissy-ass pseudo sport for girls and prissy little squire boys.

If anything, I like the drinking games ideas, or fist fights to the death in mud pits. If you want to see a real sport, go watch Valhalla Rising.

This. Is. Skyrim.

Not Sword in the Stone.

Since Oblivion was medieval, jousting should have been a part of it and not the arena.. The arena seems more barbaric and would fit the nordic theme of Skyrim much better.

The arena makes perfect sense, since the Imperials are heavily based off of the Romans. But every game is inspired by medieval times-- when was the last time you played an ES game in the Victorian era? :P

I would be satisfied with the Arena, But at least make the story of the Arena longer than Oblivion's.

Leap Ratting...

Find a rat.
Provoke it.
Wait untill it squeks.
Leap up to avoid it's lunge as the rat sails under your athletic legs.
Avoid the damage that you would have recieved if you had just stood there.
Land back down.
See that the rat is now facing the wrong way, and needs to turn back around.
Imagine what swear words a rat would say if it could talk.
Repeat for an hour.

Find a trap to lure it into for extra fun.

And Jousting would give more use to Horses instead of just using them to travel. I believe combat on horses hasn't been confirmed, So the Horses would be useless just like they were in Oblivion.

Since there's already going to be stuff like mining, woodcutting, and farming then why not have fishing? Cave fishing, ice fishing, river fishing etc would be awesome! :D

And I wouldn't try jousting because I'm not a sissy girl. So yes I wouldn't get very far. Regardless, if someone came at me with a stick on horseback it wouldn't really be a fair fight cuz I'd just shoot him. We do have guns irl remember.

My point is that jousting is more renaissance fair and Skyrim is grittier and more brutal. Jousting tournaments were just entertainment for nobles and aristocrats.

Like I said before---go watch Valhalla Rising for the arena combat scenes. That is what I want skyrim to be like. Not two wussies on horseback trying to poke each other with sticks to impress some rich lady.

I would like that.
Well, not sure about jousting, but competition in archery, playing a chess with some NPC or bare hand brawling championship would be good.
