But that still doesn't have anything to do with Daggerfall's HUD, which is what I was trying to point out.

Sure it does, the new HUD looks much better.

Care to quantify that in light of the screenshot posted of Skyrim's HUD taking up half the screen?

Compass is in pretty much the best place it could be, if you want to actually use it.

The status bars are spread out for a good reason, so you can actually see it. This is a big problem I remember having with moded UIs where these bars are just too small and I just can't see them in the corner, so I just suddenly die, not knowing that I had low health all along.

That giant text doesn't seem so intrusive after some looks, but that XP bar is.
On higher resolution if the size would stay, it would be perfect.

Still the level up could be done in the corner, I don't know why it needs to be shown in the middle...

Agree with op. The hud is an improvement over Oblivion's awful vanilla hud (darkui fixed that) but it could still be a lot better for the pc. I dont understand how Bethesda doesnt understand (or just doesnt care that much for PC gamers) that we arent 5 meters away from the screen. We dont need the huge font that consoles do. The pop ups that show up in the middle of the screen are gonna be annoying too.

You need to understant that the game isint solely for PC, you arent the only demographic that Bethesda Softworks are trying to make a Game for, and the Demo wasent on a PC it was on an x-box. so how do you know if it will or wont be different?

They still need think about the PC audience. We are a large part of the sales even if we arent the majority and if they want to make us a bit happier theyll make a hud that isnt terrible on PC. A PC suitable hud wouldnt even take that much work. They said in the Q&A that the hud will look the same on all platforms.
