Is there a minimum level for the Gauss rifle to start showing up? I'm 65 or 66, and I haven't seen a single one... Meanwhile I have a trunk at sanctuary PACKED with different kinds of miniguns and missle launchers.

I wish I had the answer. I use nothing else .... at least until I start a new character. It's the one Gun to Rule Them All .

They crop up regularly in vendors, but on my last play through it seemed progress rather than level based. Seemed like after the battle of Bunker hill where all the rail road guys have them they started appearing more.

I've not touched them on this play through though, my last go I got an instigating Gauss quite early on and the game just became easy mode when you could 2 shot mirelurk queens and one shot everything else. Sticking to combat and sniper rifles this time.

So weird. I've finished the main quest, so you'd think I'd be seeing them by now. I even have a weapon Emporium in Sanctuary

That is weird, on my Rail road play through they were everywhere especially after the main quest when you get RR agents manning all the checkpoints. And on my BOS play through I'd regularly come across battles between the RR and BOS and they'd all be using Gauss rifles. I've run into quite a few high level Gunners that are carrying them as well.

Never used it...but can get one faster if you rush the castle stuff/buy it.

Wiki says vendors start to sell them around level 25, although I haven't seen one until I did bunker hill battle, and after that they started to appear regulary.

When I went to the crashed plane east of Starlight Drive In with a level 35ish character it had two gauss rifles in the master locked compartment..

With a level 20ish character it only had low level weapons.

So yeah, level 65 is way beyond the minimum level.

Having the same problem with assault rifle and 5.56 ammo in a new playthru- KLEO sells one around level 10-12 or so, but nobody has ammo for the damm thing.

I started seeing 2mm Gauss ammo around level 10 at vendors- seems like Preston started hassling me about taking the castle around then as well, if that's the first opportunity to buy one .

Maybe I bugged something by the order in which I did something leading up to the quest? Weird. I'm going to actively visit all my weapon salesman soon as I get the chance to make sure nobody sells it.

I think I got mine on this playthrough around 40. I typically find them down south when poking around or in the glowing sea

Level 69 here and I have not seen one yet, The crashed plane only gave me pipe pistols...

Must be a bug don't know....

After 30 or so, Daisy over in Goodneighbor usually has one for sale.

The old lady in the castle sells one.

Apparently the minimum level for a legendary Gauss Rifle to drop is 35... you could try farming legendaries in high level locations if you can't find one elsewhere. Both you and the enemy must be level 35, by the way.
