Mining ore

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 2:08 pm

It just feels like the whole mining system is just...bad, like under-developed. I didn't really even no you could mine ore until a while into the game...and you can't really go and mine ore for a living, because most types oof ore only spawn in like 3 spots, and then don't respawn for an entire month...I have no idea where in the world I'm supposed to find Orcish Ore at, and then one day I found this orc mine full of like 50 ebony ore...Just seems like a lot more could of been done with the mining system, its not really worth it to go out and find the ore when you can just buy it at the blacksmiths

Most veins can be found in the wilderness (mostly iron though).

Yeah I found it to be rather lacking. Really reminded me of the common MMO system I don't like.

I would like to see some kind of mine in towns with ores that respawn every 10 minutes - 1 hour, depending on the type of ores, that I can pay for entry to.

did you not rtfm? says you can mine ore or chop wood for money right in there. I find ore everywhere. get off the path. there's an enormous load of iron ore in a mine WITH a transmute to gold spell in the same location a mosquito's fart distance from whiterun.

Yeah, I know of these. But I would just like to see more civilised mines here and there. What, did the world suddenly forget how to mine or something? Why is every single mine in the world, bar one silver mine, completely abandoned and left to bandits/forsworn/orcs?

There are a lot of "civilized" currently being worked mines. Guarded mines, mines in towns, mining camps, etc. In fact, I've not found a single abandoned mine. Ironic, isn't it? That's all you seem to find. :P

Can you point out some mines that I can mine freely in towns and such, especially ones with orc ore in them?

Look for the Orc Stronghold at the far west of the map. West North West, sorta. There is an Orihalcum mine there, quite a bit of ore in it, too.

If your looking for ore to make orcish armor and weapons you should go to the orc strongholds. You must be friends with the orc's first but that isn't to hard. Lucky for me the strategy guide shows every mine and what type of ore is there.
Also, if you wait 1 month in game all the ore that you've mined from the mines will re-appear in them so you can mine them all over again. Another thing is to equip the pick-axe and manually mine the ore, it goes slightly faster.
