Minor problem with LAME and Supreme Magicka

Post » Fri Oct 29, 2010 3:31 pm

I've added LAME to my install, in which I'm already am using Supreme Magicka. I load LAME before SM as I'd like to keep SM's settings overall but add new spells etc. from LAME. It seems to work just fine generally - haven't noticed any difference in spell costs etc. With one exception: suddenly the Minor Dispel spell doesn't dispel what it did before. Maximizing a spell with my current skill (60 on Self) doesn't remove them either. I've looked in TES4Edit but checking Minor Dispel it is Supreme Magicka that overrides other settings as it should. So it must be something else I should be looking for, but I'm not sure what?

It's quite annoying as my char relies a lot on buff spells etc. and is used to be able to "turn them off".

EDIT: Same with the Dispel Magic Effect. It's also set by Supreme Magicka according to TES4Edit.

...I use those two together in the same configuration. What differences do you see with those two spells with LAME in, and then with it out? I guess you need to look at the Bashed patch...do a really close comparison. This is confusing. LAME does not have an INI, so you do not have to worry about unexpected overrides either...

I'm loading everything in TES4Edit and it is Supreme Magicka's settings that govern both the Dispel spell and magic effect, exactly as it should. So it seems something else is determining how much dispel points that are needed or something - can't figure out what that might be.

I do not see how, unless you accidentally wiped out your INI file, haha... Maybe LAME adds a rule modifying the Vanilla settings that SM does not override. SM includes a few vanilla records duplicated intentionally, probably for that purpose, making sure the calculations are not broken in some way. Try looking for altered Vanilla records in the LAME plugin that are not overridden by SM.

I notice that LAME change and determine the fMagicAreaBaseCostMult. Not 100% what it does: "The spell's Area is multiplied by this value." So it doesn't seem to be connected to my issue perhaps.

A bit ironic that Adding LAME has made the magic experience slightly more annoying.

EDIT: I'll just stop using it for now. If anyone has an idea, please add it anyway as I'd like to have it running.
