Even though it was slightly awkward I loved it. Notch is such a cool guy because he's so down to earth although some of his ideas about minecraft seems ot be a little bit out of place in my opinion ... seems like Todd agreed. And I [censored] love Todd .. he's [censored] awesome.

the best part was when todd admitted that the PC version was the superior version. he also talked glowlingly about mods which confirms my suspicions about whether or not he plays oblivion/morrowind on PC or console. notice when he talks about xbox that he says its his platform of choice but never specifies a game. i bet he has over 100 mods on his games. :)

THIS! Nice shout out to the modding community. We should be proud!

This wasn't really an interview, more of a conversation, that was clearly edited to make it feel more like an interview. Very interesting to learn about their perspectives though

I just watched that, very fascinating interview/conversation. 1 hour and 5 min for a Fallout 3 speed run somebody must've took a shortcut. :whistling:

There is a way that you can skip the beginning part. just walk right to Rivet City, cuts 30 minutes or more.

I thought the conversational bit about completing the main quest in Oblivion was funny. Oblivion was like the first xbox game I ever picked up had it for years I just finally went and finished the main quest the other week for the first time (rushed through it because I heard some people get a bad graphics bug after some time played like 600 hours). Acrobatics was so useful I managed to close the great gate in like 2 minutes flat.

This made me happy. They need a M&B dev there to complete the holy trinity.

Conversation was a little awkward on Notch's end, but can you blame him? If I were talking to Todd, I'd be working really hard to prevent myself from acting like a giddy little girl

Careful. Some people around here seem to think Todd is a god worthy of praise and worship.

Well he kind of is. He's up there with the likes of Gabe Newell and Will Wright.

It's nice to see Todd outside of the "PR" Light. I know a lot of people don't agree with the changes to Elder Scrolls games since he became the project(s) directors, but it's hard to be tasked with creating a synergism of love and financial success.

Listening to stuff like this, I think I have to say that Todd is probably the best thing that could happen to Elder Scrolls right now at this transitional crossroads of gaming. Yes, a lot of the features are "Popularized" or "Selling out", but if it was just about turning the profit wheel, we'd have an Elder Scrolls game set 9000 years in the future, with Automatic Rifles and one skill; Bullets, at the same time, if we kept the "Daggerfall" game, so many of the earlier ES fans liked, I don't think the Elder Scrolls would have gone passed Morrowind.

So sum it up, I'd just have to say, he has an exceptional ability to compromise. You have people like Dennis Dyack (Silicon Knights) who commit themselves so deeply to one flawed feature, it drags the entire project down. (Too Human)

Pretty fun and interesting interview. More of this "style" of interviews should be done.

Behold BethFans, the sole man(Todd) and reason non-Bethfans don't plead for the Bethesda dev team to be executed for making atrocious so called RPG games. Morrowind and Daggerfall included.

/sarcasm

/No but really

Reading into it much? And I think as game director he has to experience all playstyles pretty thoroughly, including mods. But I don't think that he put a higher value on PC or console, he just acknowledged the obvious, that PC users have alot of resources through modding. But if he didn't see all the potential and appeal within the console he wouldn't have been so excited about the possibility of bringing mods to the Xbox.

I'd assume so. All in all in any situation an extremely biased person or fan of some sort of object or entity such as a corporation isn't a good thing.

Trying to dictate others own thoughts or likes is never a good thing as it bypasses aspects. I.e. Being a really devoted fan towards a company negates the fact that competitive competition is why they bother to put out the product you may have liked and in the end that's how the "Consumer" wins.

PC vs. Console is a matter of pros and cons. Basically individual tastes. Most people(Assuming we're talking about populations such as in New York or Tokyo) own a PC though, but find console gaming comfortable. Plus perhaps a little better for your eyes as you'll be farther away from your TV than a PC moniter. And yes I know you can hook up your laptop or computer to a TV. Still not conveniant for a good amount of people.

Again pros and cons. And taste. Personally I use both my PC and Xbox 360.

Its one of the things I like about todd hes not a natural camera hog and it shows. Hes always nervous on interviews. But if you want to see nervous the other bethesda guy the lead designer is soo nervous he talks about 5000 words a minute in every interview;/

im reading into just as much as people who assume that he plays TES games specifically on consoles even though he never said so. and being a admitted sports game lover hes going to play on consoles more anyways cause thats where all the sports games are. can i read his mind..........no. but neither can you. the best anyone can hope for is an educated guess. it is undeniable that mods have had a major influence on the fallout and TES franchises. they have borrowed heavily from mods like OOO (in fact i think they hired the author of OOO), deadly reflex for combat, and midas magic for magic spells and many others. who is in charge of skyrim........Todd and Todd gets what he wants. if he didnt like mods or didnt think they were a big deal we wouldnt be seeing so many mod ideas being borrowed.

as for mods on xbox its clear that he really wants them on xbox probably so he can sit down and play them after hes done playing madden or fifa or whatever he plays. if he didnt care about them then why would he want them so bad. you can just see it in his face that hes trying to find away to get them on console. i dont know of any other developer that is trying to get user made mods on their games..........and no halos [censored] level editor doesnt count. that thing is a total joke. unfortunately this is one area where i dont see microsoft giving even an inch. sony maybe but not microsoft.

someone did make a good point earlier though that after you have been working on a project for years you probably want a break from it for awhile. i bet he will be so sick of skyrim by the time the game launches that he will disappear to montana for a month.

That was interesting, thanks for posting. I do like it when developers are open about why they made certain decisions and get into some of the game design theory and it helps when they are talking to other developers.

Should have been called, Todd Howard and the devil.
Everywhere this sad excuse for a game goes, by the name of Minecraft, devouring souls, giving people terrible opinions about games, addicting them to a terrible game. Almost all my friends have been taken by it, but no not I, I will fight to the end!

May you come to an unfortunate end, Notch!
