I'm excited Todd wants to bring mods to consoles in the future. Hopefully it's figured out soon.

IMO the best Skyrim feature to date was the mysterious translation puzzle

Think so too, now when I look back and think hard.
It maybe haven't been very appreciated for people who were not that big Skyrim fans (they probably just wanted the info quick and fast on their screen, at least that's my guess)... but for me, as a big Skyrim fan, I loved it.

PC version of a game is inherently superior? Who would've guessed a game that does native 1920x1080 and supports modding would be better than a 30fps 1280x720 version ...

Nope, I got that too.

Whenever I see MS or Sony say something like "Developer X put this Xbox/PS3-exclusive feature in their game!" I interpret it as "Developer X put this Xbox/PS3-exclusive in their game because we threatened to pull their licence if they didn't."

If Microsoft pull Skyrim from the Xbox I will sell my Xbox and buy a PS3 or build a PC (If I have time & money) JUST to play Elder Scrolls.

It's a wonder that the room didn't explode of their combined awesomeness.

Nothing new about Skyrim, but we learned that the 1.7 update will probably bring a big bad boss (ALDUIN!) to Minecraft!

Yeah, that's what I thought. The way they were talking seemed rather scripted. :whistling:

When Notch said "Microsoft want everything to have kinnect" the look on todds face when he says "I am aware of that" seems to me that he had to fight to not have it implemented. Or maybe I'm just looking into things a bit too much.

i laughed for like 5 min when i saw that in the video, you could just tell that to did NOT want kinect in his game

A hint towards a fued between Todd and Microsoft pushing kinnect. Very interesting but I have to agree with people, a little bit awkward.

Interesting, not only was the conversation great, far more informative than the stupid reporters asking questions. Both had played each other games a lot and both knew the issues.
Some interesting tidbits, two types of players the round it and go on and the ignore the main quest types who are the largest group.
Explains some decisions during in Oblivion, they probably thought the traditional round the game players would be in majority.
Wanted mod and better the CS on consoles. Mods I believe not the CS, if so why not add TCL and the other most useful console commands as cheats.

Notch: "MS really wants Kinect in everything..."
Todd: *looks down* I'm aware of that...

-

Todd: "And we have this kit for the PC, and we'd really like to get in the console."

-

Notch: "And then in Oblivion I tried using bows... hmm" *looks down at Todd*

Hopefully some mods will reach the console in the future.

Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 had mods made by PC gamers which you could download so it isn't impossible. If the vanilla version is a lot better than Oblivion then I will be happy, I do like the Oblivion but I really wished I could fix some of the issues with it by using mods.

not interested in minecraft but it was great to see a interview that wasn't just about asking questions, and more about other games and what they had in mind for the future.

This was fantastic...thank you for posting the link. I love it when they discuss the games and different things about them like how Beth learned that ending FO3 was a mistake. I also loved it when Notch bought two copies of Oblivion so he could play it on his console too. THAT'S a fan. :) I have PC and PS3 and PC is definitely the superior version...but I love my PS3 too. I don't have an Xbox and don't care about Kinect.

The tidbits about what goes on in Bethesda were fun too. I could never get through Fallout 3 in 1 hour 5 mins but I would have loved to have watched the competition!

Has anyone listened to the user submitted Q&A Game Informer Todd Howard podcast?

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/podcasts/archive/2011/02/03/toddhowardse.aspx

I saw it on the website, however it looks old so I'm not making a thread for it.

"Game Informer's web coverage of our The Elder Scroll V: Skyrim cover story has proven to be popular with Bethesda's legion of devoted RPG fans. Today, we're pleased to present a special edition of the Game Informer Show, in which Bethesda's Todd Howard answers questions we solicited from our community of online users. It's nearly an hour of freewheeling discussion, we put your queries to Howard, who gives some revealing responses -- while still leaving more than a bit of mystery surrounding the game. Some of the topics covered include the game's combat system, spells, factions, and the powerful dragons that reign terror over the world of Skyrim.

We thank all our readers who submitted questions. We received an unprecedented number of responses, and as a result, it was simply impossible to have Todd answer more than a fraction of the submissions. In hopes of covering as many readers as possible, we tried to concentrate on questions that were asked many times over by multiple readers. Still, if your question was not answered, we apologize."

It's politics, not capability. As Todd said, the console makers are a lot more restrictive about what can be brought on to the system, unlike the PC. Though there are still hardware resource limitations... some mods would work just fine, but mods that require a notable amount of memory or processor time will simply run out.

My guess is that Todd LOVES the PC ... but can't admit it for fear of angering the giant beast MS.

While I don't think mods will make it to console, or at least in a VERY limited sense, hopefully the next-gen allows for greater freedoms.

Unlikely with MS/Sony running the game (less so Sony).

Good to hear acknowledgement that the PC version is superior, I was getting a feeling that they were intentionally damaging the PC version so console gamers wouldn't feel slighted; which would be really dumb.
