Hey I was wondering if anybody here knew the type of jacket that is in the minutemen outfit? Also what type of cowboy hat is the militia hat that the minutemen wear? I think I want to cosplay as a minuteman, and think it would be easier to throw together the minutemen outfit than the generals

I'd say the closest thing it resembles is a Duster. I can't seem to find what outfit inspired it, though it could just be a mashup. A little Duster here, some Trench Coat there. If you buy a Duster and remove the shoulder flaps you might have it pretty close. Hopefully someone can come along and be more accurate in it's design origins.

You're talking about the Colonial Duster Preston wears? Definitely a duster as the name implies - with accessories, of course, but you'd get those separately. It shouldn't be too hard to find a duster in a similar color. The hat, a quick scan of wikipedia, and the closest match seems to be a "Slouch Hat". Hope that helps.

Doesn't the coat look to be more of a greatcoat or highwaymen? Most dusters tend to have the short caplet.


Check out a online shop by the name ravenwood leather and I'm sure you'll find something close to it for inspiration and information. Their stuff is expensive but should help with details on what type of coat your looking for
