minute men quest bugs at the castle help

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:17 am

my radio transmitter at the castle will NOT work no matter what i do. it has power and a person assigned to it and it is switched on, i'm not overlooking some minor detail here it is bugged for sure.

i had to use console commands to move to the end of the "taking independence: quest. then i restarted the game and loaded so i could finish the quest and get my achievement. and that worked after an hour or so of tinkering with console.

now i'm on the next quest "old guns" and i'm at the point where i have the artillery set up with someone assigned to it, and now am supposed to throw the smoke grenades. at the house to light it up. but when i do nothing happens. everything in the quest log is checked off and completed except for power the radio transmitter. which is fully powered correctly. and the minute man keeps saying that we need to get it powered up. i assume the radio transmitter issue is why my minute men quests are so bugged.

i've tried console commands to:

resetquest min03

setstage min03 (trying every number 20, 40, 60 etc)

completequest min03

but nothing works. the completequest command will finish the quest and give me the experience. but will dissappear from the quest log and wont let me progress from there.

does anybody have any ideas to help me finish or even restart this quest from the begining, preferably while still being able to get the achievement. or fix for the radio transmitter bug

and no i did not use console commands at all until i had to fix the minute men quest. so that's not what broke this part of the game. please help. thank you

Maybe reload? Also I didn't have to assign anyone to the transmitter, someone automatically went there for me :hehe:

I can't get past Old Guns the Radio goes off, loses power and no one will assign to the radio if I get it back up.

Disassemble and reassemble your power connections. The transmitter needs 10 power which I did initially with a generator right next to it. If you are using generators from inside via the existing power grid make sure there are no breaks and that the switch is on.

And still it's the wrong forum. You can choose between "hints and spoilers" and "software issues". But "general" is a not the right place for that question.

My Old Guns quest broke too, it gets stuck on when I have to fire the flare, the guy manning the cannon never fires and quest won't update. I've tuned into the radio, and that's ticked off, there's a guy manning the cannon in the right place and I fire the flare at the right place, it's just broke!

The same thing happened I found the radio unpowered and unmanned. I went back powered it all and tried to assign to radio but nothing I try will get the artillery to fire.

Spoiler
Did you the test for the artillery? After you build the artillery pieces you talk to Ronnie and she does a test. After the test all artillery pieces are empty (no NPC on it). Then you need to assign at least one NPC to one artillery, then it should work. Did you maybe leave out the step to talk to Ronnie after building? There should be a script controlled test, she sends you outside to a house nearby and tells you to use one of the artillery flares, and then the artillery fires. After this you need to assign a NPC to artillery (at least one) and it will work, or the radio will tell you they are out of range.

Right I do it all, then throw the smoke grenade, it all updates fine, but the artillery never fires.
