Is Miraak Martin Septim from Oblivion?

Post » Wed Oct 30, 2013 8:48 am

Is Miraak Martin septim from Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV? The emperor Tiber Septim was killed in the beginning of the game. If he was dragonborn, he would not have died so easily. Martin Septim was called Dragonborn. I guess I am looking for confirmation that he is Miraak.

Are you serious..?

*facepalm* no... just no...

Tiber Septim was not killed at the beginning of Oblivion, Uriel VII was killed at the Beginning of Oblivion... Tiber died Hundreds of years prior to Oblivion..

Uriel was Dragonborn, as was Martin (being Dragonborn does not make you some Super Soldier, just means you have a Dragons Blood)

Miraak was the First Dragonborn (during the time of Alduins Dragon Cult), long before the Septim Bloodline even began..

Miraak has no relation to any of the Septims, other then being a Dragonborn...

I am going to assume your not serious about this question though...

Mine too. This is great.

No OP. Martin is not Miraak.

You should read the lore.

Sure bruh. Martin transformed into a Nord and time-traveled to the Merethic Era in order to join the Dragon Cult. He then got bored and later decided to violate the minds of his previous bosses thanks to old Herma-Mora.

No. :D

In addition to what others have said about Miraak long predating the Septim dynasty, I'd also like to point out that Martin Septim was good and Miraak is evil.

No. Uriel Septim VII was killed at the beginning of Oblivion. Tiber Septim was an entirely different person. As for Miraak, he's an ancient priest of the Dragon Cult who happened to be the First Dragonborn, and rebelled against the cult for more power, and made a deal with Herma Mora for a chance to live on after his death.

I'm not entirely sure whether or not you're serious.

Ah the black and white philosophy I do wish we had more shades of grey in TES.

Op no Martin is not Miraack as others have said he was a round long before Tiber birthed the 3rd Era with a united empire.

Also Tiber was the first emperor Uriel VII came later on he was the one who was killed in Oblivion not Tiber.

Its mainly black and white.

Shades of gray seem more natural as grey is more logical than being purely good or evil, just saying.

I am not happy with the poor and short stories in Skyrim.

No it is not.

First, just look at Tiber Septim.
Then look at the races of Tamriel, none is good and none is evil. Just "shades of grey".
Then there are ingame characters, especially those that play a part in Skyrim Civil War.

I thought I had something witty, but I failed to find any wit here.

So, no. Miraak is a "Nord" and Martin is Imperial (I believe).

Hey, the time-travel thing is possible!

It's how my guy is the hero of Oblivion, Morrowind, and Skyrim!

Except that Sheogorath is strongly implied to be the CoC, post Oblivion.

There is a quest where it is stated that Sheogorath was around during the events of Oblivion. I would rather not spoil anything, so look it up.

unless you meant the title of the thread. In which case, disregard this.

Yeah, Oblivion is the end point of his time travel journey. Hilarious, Sheogorath then arranges for the Skyrim PC's birth and blessing with a Dragon soul.

In short, making him a self-made man.

Though, if you wanted to portray the Skyrim Dragonborn as Sheogorath's unwitting avatar, you could do that too.

It's fun to be crazy like that and why I like ES. Your Prisoner could be anyone.

Strongly implied. But this is one of the best things in TES: your freedom to decide what your character does and who he is.

Isn't Akatosh something to do with Time? I might be misremembering, but if so I totally don't see anything wrong with, like above, the inclusion of Time Travel somehow... I know Martin makes references to his dark past with Daedric scholarship, so I *suppose* there's nothing in canon (that I know of-- haven't play dragonborn, so...) to say that Martin couldn't have been somehow warped back into the past following the end of Oblivion, became obsessed with gaining power, and actually started his own bloodline...

A few problems I DO see with that...

- Is Miraak actually recognised as a Nord in-game? As I say, not played DB, but I suppose we could separate the game-design from the plot-design if we really wanted...

- How did the first DB come about? I can't recall reading anything about it in the main game, and again with the DB thing, so... ::shrug:: Paradox works fine for me :P

So yeah, not something I'd actually believe, but.... this IS TES, haha, so you know... We've already had the "All contradictory endings are true!" scenario, so, "Oh that guy went back in time and became evil..." is kind of believable :P

(Oh, or maybe Miraak is our Dragonborn... ::Intentionally plants the seeds of crazy discussion:: :P )

You could even write a fairly convincing argument for it.

* Martin defeating Mehrunes Dagon caused a Dragonbreak, shattering his essence across all of Tamriel. This resulted in the birth of the Septim bloodline of Dragonborn as all of Martin's ancestors gained the power of the Dragonborn. His most ancient ancestor to receive this boon was Miraak, who inherited the majority of this power and closely resembled Martin.

* Either that or Martin is actually Miraak's reincarnation, Miraak's original incarnation sending him through time in hopes of freeing him. Instead, he saved Tamriel and turned away from the Daedric Arts.

* Martin mantling Akatosh results in his dark-side being severed from him and being sent back in time to the dawn of Alduin's reign. His dark side's name is Nord-ized by the locals as "Miraak" and proceeds to father the Dragonborn bloodline, stealing souls to regain his lost power as he attempts to regain the apotheosis he was created by. Ultimately, he turns to Hermaeus Mora in hopes of achieving the godhood he feels is his destiny but is defeated and claimed instead.

His descendants, however, are the Septims.

Last I checked, Mirrark wasn't Sean Bean, so no.

No. :ahhh:

If you have played the DLC Dragonborn then you would know that Neloth said that Miraak is dead more than thousands of years.

And the timeframe of Skyrim is only 200 years after Oblivion, so it's a no no.

I agree, but Miraak wasn't dead, he fled to Apocrypha while his Temple was attacked by some dragons. He stayed there for circa 5000 years.
