I don't know.

I just hung it on a weapon rack in Severin manor without ever checking it out. I likes me my Ebony Sword and Dagger for my Assassins, and my dual wielded Ebony War Axes for my Dunmer warriors.

Watch out I did the same thing and the house ate the sword. You might want to move it

I've heard that it has the highest base damage, but I'd sooner use an unenchanted dragonbone sword.

According to the Uesp, it is. It's also the lightest One-Handed sword in the game. Not to mention it looks badass.

It gives me the heebie-jeebies--the way all those "things" come swarming out of it. It is truly an unclean sword, in the supernatural sense. I tried to use it--it is a very light sword for the amount of damage it does, but it really gave me a queasy feeling whenever I used it. It's on the wall now. Probably a great sword for an evil character, but my "usually good" character found it too....evil, unclean, unholy (and all those other words that stand for ichy).

The tentacle thing is a cool concept, but the sword's too wide & short to appreciate it. Kinda feels like a dagger.

Meh.

If the house is that hungry, it can have it. :P

Yes, it has the highest damage of any one-handed weapon in the game, but not by much. When you superforge a Dragonbone sword and Miraak's sword, Miraak's sword with a level 100 One-handed and 100 Smithing, the Dragonbone sword is about 127 and Miraak's sword is about 134. I forget the exact numbers.

So if draining stamina is what you want, use Miraak's sword. If you want a custom enchantment, just use a Dragonbone sword. But then again, if you don't have Level 100 smithing, this is a good alternative. And it's free. So, enchantments notwithstanding, Miraak's sword is the best one-handed weapon in the game.

Of course, RP-wise, a more righteous character would abstain from using it.

Same here. My good character viewed that sword as tainted. Plus I'm trying not to follow Herma-Mora as much with my current character.

As I said, yes.

You need Arcane Blacksmith perk, but if you have the Dwarven Smithing perk, it doubles the effectiveness. You need a Daedra Heart and an Ebony Ingot.

Hmm. I thought it needed the Daedric Smithing Perk?

I love it. It's one of my main weapons when I'm on the dark mode. The tentacle writhing look is pretty awesome. Damage stats, I honestly have better and use netter. But the sword itself does it's wonders.

Perfect for a fallen hero storyarc for those of you tired of your righteous hero characters.
After, with the best of intentions, defeating Miraak, your character is in servitude to Herma-Mora (whether he knows it or not) and slowly descends to darkness, going from revered hero to the thing that people tell their children about to keep them inside at night, slowly becoming an old legend along the lines of the Headless Horseman and the Grim Reaper.

And that is the exact thing that will happen to my char, when Dragonborn hits PC.

Surprisingly not.

Yeah, that's what happened to my character, actually. He was a righteous guy, telling Hermaeus Mora to piss off from Discerning the Transmundane up until he defeated Miraak. But then he started using Miraak's equipment (Mask, Clothes, Sword, Staff) and slowly became to be subtly influenced by it to become a devout follower of Hermaeus Mora.

I just can't wait for the PC version to come out so I can fix Miraak's stuff. You can't upgrade any of his apparel, and his mask and sword enchantments are just laughable.

Same here my bosmer archer right now is on the first step currently wearing the saviors armor. She see's it as gathering more power so she could defend others but as we all know power corrupts and Mora offers a lot of power in this dlc. I mean you have to say his daedra artifact is one of the best ones in the game imo.

Plus delphine saying in the MQ not to be afraid of gathering more power does not help at all. :D

I have a character who is sitting on this edge as I write. I am contemplating whether or not to send him to the "dark side." BWA-HA-HA!

Shame on all of you. My character successfully resisted Mora, and hung up the sword on the wall of Severin Manor as another trophy of a foolish evildoer. What need has she of Hermaeus Mora's knowledge and power? She is content with what she already knows, and already has all the power she needs. Why sell your soul for more?

Nope.

It doesn't matter what sword we're talking about.

As soon as my Assassin picks it up, it then becomes the best sword in the game.

For Resdayn!

If you're One Handed is high and/or boosted enough, any of those weapons would be "the best."

I think it's pretty cool. My mage/vampire character Samson uses it. If anyone gets past the dremoras and fireballs that is.
