Mirelurk Queen

Got a huge shock when it popped out by the sea lol so dramatic had to run for my life, absolutely loving the really tough areas in the game at the moment at Level 22.

I remember my first - thought she was a regular mirelurk, and closer than she was. Well played, giant, terrifying death-lobster.

Still, between my Staggering CR and Wounding AR, even a Queen is short work.

There is a settlement in the south, that you have to clear out multiple queens to unlock and then regularly has Queens near it......My defences there are massive, mainly based around heavily laser turrets.

I'm pretty safe from them since I've started carrying a Gauss rifle around to deal with the big nasties.

One surprisingly popped out near Revere station. Being the stealth bastard i am, i lured it to the raiders and had her melt them

I think I killed one in about 4 shots with my recon sniper gauss rifle at about level 45 or 50

Had I encountered it at level 22 I probably would've crapped my pants.

My first fight with mirelurk queen was on normal difficulty, I kept dying over and over. I was confused to be fighting such an endgame monster so soon in the game and this time without any protection. I kept dying like 5 times on my sneaky character. I got sick of trying to fight her and just ran away and hide. I saw the Mirelurk Queen going to the sea and shooting some super mutants from the water. Later she went underwater and died who knows how. I know she died cuz I got the experience points and finished the mission at the castle. I was like WTF just happened.

My second fight with her was on survival this time I was more prepared and with a power armor at level 15 or something. When the Mirelurk Queen appeared I shot her with the missile launcher from inside the castle, and kept aiming from the windows with my laser musket and other weaker weapons with more ammo. I died once, but managed to kill her on the second or third try just by staying inside the castle. I have no clue how people kills her though but that was my solution.

I found a mirelurk king too, he was smaller and kept spamming me some attacks until I died, I never found him again afterwards.

I encountered her first on survival, when I had no clue about this game and was level 15.

I [censored] my pants, died several times but won in the end with 1 nuke, several missiles and a crapload of broadsider balls.

On Survival a crit with a nuke doesn't even take of a quarter of her health (looks more like 15%) and I sold all missiles I found prior to that so I only had those which laid in the castle.

I didn't have any explosives or big gun perks.

But still I was utterly delighted about this monster, something as hard as her was lacking in NV and up to that point I was disappointed in survival difficulty.

I was lucky, I had a church to hide in from the first one I encountered. I just took potshots at her from the roof. That acid is no joke though. Just moving over the sizzling area does major damage.

Mirelurk Queens, which I'm happy about, seem to spawn regularly and even perhaps based on a dice roll when near the beaches, as there might be a chance to have one crawling out just to utterly murder you.

I died the first time I encountered one at the castle.

2nd time I laid mines all over her spawning area, and made a trail of mines along the path I wanted to lure her. About 4-5 stimpacks and a liberal use of my rifle and shotgun knocked her out.

The Mirelurk Queen was tough. I eventually got her by zig-zagging hell for leather until I got to the ruined town nearby, then dodged around corners, sniped at her and dodged back before she could use that poison spray effect. Every now and then I'd have to mop up some hatchlings, or smack the occasional ghoul that had come to see what all the noise was about. Pretty straightforward though once I had the right terrain.

Don't know what I'd do if I encountered one in the open.

Swan was easy. Some raider turf war or other had spilled onto the common and disturbed him, so I dropped him with a sniper rifle from a block away. He never even saw me. I was expecting him to be a mirelurk for some reason...

Queens seem to have the most hp from all the enemies I've encountered so far. Level 70 now.

The first one I've encountered at the Castle, and killed me like 3 times, I was sprinting and still she was always 2 steps behind me. So I thought ok, running doesn't work, how about some Fat man from very very far ? That's how I killed her, but it took many nukes.

I even tried with the power armor but found out it was totally useless cause pa doesn't have poison resist, good joke, haha.

I hit my first Queen with the Fat Man three times, and still spent half an hour shooting it with a high power combat rifle... I was really wondering where I could get a LMG about then, eh? :)

Spoiler
Running can work if you do not mind picking up a jet addiction (and/or a psycho addiction, since psychojet works better than regular jet). But, still, if you are low level, and do not have a lot of mininukes or equivalent you'll probably also want to be reloading the game and laying down a minefield or something - especially if you can find a long narrow region to pull her through. You might also need some health boosts.

I have seen the Mirelurk Queen, but I have not fought her yet. I suppose I can launch a salvo of mini-nukes at her. I'm pretty sure I've found over 100 of 'em.

You are lucky. The very first time I encounted the queen, it was in an indoor level, i wont say where but some of you should remember. There was no place to hide, so i desperately ran from cover to cover, it was such a pain in the ass.
