Mirror's Edge 2 Cancelled

This is one of the few games I've really been looking forward to, Mirror's Edge was a flawed masterpiece and a sequel would have given DICE a chance to fix those flaws. RIP Mirror's Edge 2.

AARGH! :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer: :brokencomputer:

Mirror's Edge 1 was great, and if they improved upon it (less forced combat, and maybe a true open city) a sequel could've been amazing.

Oh well...I hate it when good games are cancelled but life goes on and more importantly Skyrim goes on :)

That's too bad. Mirror's Edge was an interesting game. Would have liked to see more of it.

That's a true shame. But I'm glad they said they haven't "buried" it even though it could be something they said just to stop people from whining.

I read about this yesterday - makes me sad that one of the more awesome IPs in the past few years gets canned while even more money gets pumped into the lackluster Battle for the Call of Duty 20XX genre.

I really wish canceled games would get released as open source or something. I mean, the publisher / developer isn't planning on working on it anymore (well, really it's the publisher's fault) so why not let the community take a stab at it?

Mirror's Edge was different. Not an extremely long game, and certainly not one without flaws, but I had a lot of fun playing it. Like a breath of fresh air.

I'd read this yesterday on Overclock.net and was disappointed...

Hey, I like BC2. It's not like CoD!1!1!!!

But, I don't really know why they would cancel it. I mean, do they want us to think they're Activision or something? :vaultboy: :sadvaultboy:

They still sacraficed it for a game they want to compete with CoD.

Read this yesterday, hate EA. I donty care what people say they are just as bad as activison.
Allthough I do love BFBC2 and willl get BF3...
I hate EA, ruin goood games, then when they make a good one, cancel it.

I think that EA is at least a little better then that then Activivisection, otherwise they'd be putting out a Sims or Sim City game at least every two years. Although it's probably more profitable to keeping making expansions that are sure to sell then coming out with a new game.

I give it a 6/10. It had so much potential, but there were some things that irked me. The biggest complaint was the forced combat and small levels. I had high hopes for the sequel considering it was an ambitious new IP, all they needed was to work some of the kinks out. Easily could have been a 9/10 or hell even 10/10 game. As it is, it's just wasted potential.

How about... it's trying to make money off of CoD's success? That better? :P

Okay, then. How about this? "Canceled for another military-themed first-person shooter with an emphasis on multiplayer."

They have expansion packs for The Sims, tons of them. Actually expansion packs are even lazier than a new Sims iteration.

Well, that does svck, but at least now DICE will be able to focus a bit more of their resources into making Battlefield 3 (which is most certainly NOT a CoD ripoff :banghead: ) that much better, and maybe they'll give Mirror's Edge another try in the future.

They didn't really cancel it, canceling implies that the game was already under development. It's disappointing that they rejected the title, but they've said that they do want to make a sequel at some point.

Well seeing how BF3 will be the big money maker, it's not surprising that they cancel Mirror's Edge 2.

I couldn't really care. The first one was meh.

Well... After reading the article again, it does sound like they just put it on hold... Maybe they want to get Battlefield 3 out the door before they put more resources into it?
