There should be a spell that allows you to create a replica of another person/creature.
I mean, I think that it would be really good idea to have an actual illusion in illusion school of magic.
Properties of this skill would be that replica created would deal no and would take no damage since it's just an illusion, but would disappear after the duration of time.
This would be a really good spell for confusing and distracting your enemies while it would give us an ability to create an actually illusion with illusion school of magic.
Your thoughts?

how about a spell that creates 5 exact clones of you. they stand in a row facing the same way and doing the same thing. Only one person would be real however, the others are illusions.

Yeah, something like that, like in Baldur's Gate. Several fakes, moving in the exact same way as the real person, but only one is real.

Let's be honest, even if it's not included, someone will probably figure out a way to mod it in ;). For that reason it probably should be included, at least then it'd be a part of the default AI to be able to be tricked by images and balanced on just how much you can get away with creating mirror images.

would this mean that baddies could cast it too? I've always hoped that the magic system would be a little more magical and not simply tes's answer to guns

But you would have to program all the ai to go for one of the fakes, i dont know how hard that would be to implement. Still they definatly should.

No. No one will be a super annoying kid with his face made up to look like a cat in an ORANGE jumpsuit trying to be a ninja. This has been done MANY times before that terrible show.

As for the AI there is already (at least there was in Oblivion, depends on how Skyrim's scripting is) a way to summon things. So instead of summoning 1 creature it summons 3-5 copies of the person it hit (although I think it would be best saved for a self cast spell). Usually the AI would go after summoned creatures, they just have to make it a little more common.

that would actually be awesome but make it to where you can choose a location for it to go to like the holograms in halo reach (my favorite armor ability in that game) then it would be perfect
also last time i checked becoming invisible is an illusion and so is mysteriously hypnotizing something to where it is unable to move

Generally not too hard from the way TES goes I believe, it'd be no different to just placing a normal NPC there really, for example at the battle of Bruma in Oblivion, the Deadra will go for one of any number of possible targets (depending on how much aid you got for Bruma), the only issue would be making the monsters still having a chance of going for you, just to be a proper mirror image spell there would be a 1/numberOfImages chance of the monsters still getting you... that would probably be a bit harder to achieve but from experience it can usually still be done... have to see what state the scripting language/engine of the creation engine will be like first tho.

Kind of like a magic version of a hologram? The enemy attacks the false image while you escape or get in a sneak attack? That sounds like a very good idea actually.

No, Naruto creates actual clones that deal damage and take damage.
This is just an illusion made to confuse enemies.

Well, yes, they should be able to do it.

Well yeah, but not that they stick to it like a magnet.
It should demand some skill to use this spell also.
If you are not careful, enemies should attack you too.

that would actually be awesome but make it to where you can choose a location for it to go to like the holograms in halo reach (my favorite armor ability in that game) then it would be perfect

If it can be done, then why not. :)
And yes, while invisibility is an illusion, creating an illusion of a character is something that defines illusion in fantasy in my opinion.

Too bad that there isn't spellmaking anymore since you could mix chameleon/invisibility with this skill and create Dopplewalk-like skill from DotA. :D

It would be really cool if, you cast the spell on a creature/your self... once the illusion have been made you control its movement instead of your own... you camera is also on it now... but it can only walk... not interact with anything whatsoever... to go back into your own body all you gotta do is click one of the attack buttons, or get yourself damaged, or wait 'till the spell runs out... the clone cannot take damage and when hit with a weapon it should gain a slight see-trough effect... once hit the enemy should realize its a clone and go into alert mode and start looking for you. And whenever someone tries to talk to it, like: "Halt, your under arest, pay the fine or go to jail." You can't answer and therfor after 5 seconds a intellegent being might realise its an llusion and go on alert mode and start searching for you...

But clones should have a magnitude, the higher the magnitude the less see-through it'd be, and of course they should have a duration... it should be one of the highest cost spells there are...
and if someone sees their own clone -alert mode...

finally here's why I think they'd be usefull...
- They can trick enemies into a position were you can sneak-kill them with your bow.
- They can search areas for you.
- They'd be great distraction.
- If you cast it on a bird you'd get a great point of view.
- much more.

Something like Bioshock's Decoy plasmid would be awesome. I am hoping Illusion gets some major upgrades to make it stand out from the other schools. In Oblivion Frenzy was really my only must-have Illusion spell - Invisibility & Chameleon felt too much like cheats and Charm didn't accomplish anything a bribe couldn't.

Hate to bring World of Warcraft into this, but the mage spell "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgofncFik0A&feature=related" was done very well on there.

Hey you stole my idea! But seeing as though it was posted 3 months back I guess it's cool :-) i can't remember what I called it. But yeah great idea!

I also had an idea for a spell called Astral Projection. Where the caster gains the ability to leave the physical body and enter an astral body. You would have to be hidden while casting the spell, as your phisical body would be vulnerable, but the astral body is unable to interact, do damage, receive damage. Useful for stealth/Mage characters wanting to get an early look at what's is around the next corner or locate chests.

It'd be cool... a Doppelganger spell. (They did this in Duke Nukem with the Hologram.)

What would be neat ~and similar to 'Prey' game mechanics (in a way), would be to transfer control of the Doppelganger to the Player; but that kind of spell should perhaps not be illusory.
